I can't seem to get people to take ecological collapse seriously, even some in the scientific community. They think it is 'extremist' and 'politically-driven'. Everything is politics, including denialism and ignorance. Every move we make as a society and individual is politics. We don't need to analyses the dipiction's level and types to see its spirit. The spirit is correct.

Scientist and animal/human health workers are worried, but the public is told ‘nothing to see, nothing to worry about, move on’.

The massive power of agribusiness is threatening the world we live in and also (for those who don't really care), our health by incubating new and dangerous illnesses.

@Wen I expect their intensive inhumane feedlot system of mass produced beef is almost certain to reduce animal health and the density of the 'herds' almost guarantees any infections will pass swiftly through the herd.
And their given hormone supplements to grow faster.
Why anyone thinks US beef is good, totally baffles me. The pollution it causes is enormous. Free ranging big herbivores are an environmental plus, but force fed dense collections are a disaster waiting to happen.

‘Glyphosate is safe’: Facing tens of thousands of lawsuits, Bayer names ongoing Roundup-related litigation a top priority

https://agfundernews.com/glyphosate-is-safe-facing-tens-of-thousands-of-lawsuits-bayer-names-ongoing-roundup-related-litigation-a-top-priority

Bayer a byword for reckless, dangerous, environmentally destructive chemicals is going to all out to have glycophosphates declare ‘safe’. To the detriment of all but their shareholders.

Guy,
@Guy@mastodon.scot avatar

@Wen
Did you know (you probably didn't want to) that farmers spray cereal crops with glycophosphates a couple of weeks before harvest to help the grain "dry". There is very likely significant residue after such a short time. Another reason, if you can afford it, to buy organic oats and wheat.

A consensus on whether the world should seek to limit the amount of plastic being made remains elusive as weeklong talks on a future global treaty to tackle soaring plastic pollution came to a close. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/environment/2024/05/01/sustainability/plastic-pollution-production-curbs/

@thejapantimes how some cities stopped producing straws, later firewoks (also wrapped in plastic), but even cans or cardboard being a thing in shipped goods for grocery stores

minding icecream on a stick, cone waffles, than as 1kg to share ...DiY than getting singlets &chips be in amounts of less than 250g-butter if that salty snack being crushed or blendered, prev. sealed in plastic for pollution or to re-use in materials instead?

@ApaulD this is fixable. NASA has tech to monitor methane emissions with satellite imagery. We could use it get rid of states self-reporting emissions and entrust monitoring to the UN.
