The experience of changing web host is a good reminder of why normal people just post to Medium, Facebook or some other system they have no ownership or control over. If we want people to own their web presence and content, we need better software.
I've tested way too many CMSs, static site generators and web design applications. I typically start by trying to put together a simple page with an <h1> heading, a few <p> paragraphs, and a <ul> bulleted list. It's amazing how many alleged web publishing tools fail this basic test — even ones that want a $79 licensing fee. (I'm looking at you, RapidWeaver.)
Anyway, if your web site doesn't run to many thousands of pages, my recommendation is Publii. <https://getpublii.com>. It's the only thing I've found that's at least as usable as WordPress, works with commodity hosting, and also generates good HTML, CSS and images. It's free and open source, GPL licensed. #Publii#WebHosting#WordPress#CMS#Web0
#WordPress folks, without forking shit tone of money. What mailing list plugin should I use. Something lightweight that will allow people to subscribe and unsubscribe and that will get a weekly newsletter of all the posts that came out for the week prior to the newsletter. Anyone? I'm currently with Mailpoet. #Plugin#CMS
New on my tiny blog: A post about @eleventy and why it brings me joy. I struggled a bit writing this text for some reason, but it came out OK ... sort of.

"Although still experimental, it allows users to collaborate in real time on content creation. This feature is part of Phase 3 of Project Gutenberg. Interested users can enable it in the "Experiments" area of the Gutenberg plugin."

#NGIForum23 The is no way to edit or remove questions. The is no way to talk to anyone... A normal #NGI "trust" #4opens fail, except this time it is a hardcoded due to the use of this CMS for the event. Before this we used #FOSS with #BBB which worked well, then #dotcons silos that worked after a fight each time to get chat turned on, now we are here #blocking, every #EU tech event has pushed this "control" mess over the public. What are you guys in "control" going to do to stop this.
Stepped away from my little #CMS project for a bit but making some progress today.
Able to write a post in this horrendous looking web app and click the Publish button to send the content to GitHub. About 30 seconds later, it showed up on my 11ty site.
Lots to do yet, but as a dev-in-training, I'll take every little win.
Coffee in hand, it's time to give @cloudcannon a spin by plugging it into a site I have nearing completion - guided by no other than the awesome @zachleat
