In case you missed it: The January 1 episode of BBC's #UniversityChallenge (Sheffield v Aberdeen) had a question about the "genre of dance music developed in the UK in the early 1990s out of the rave scene and reggae sound system culture, with acts like A Guy Called Gerald, and Goldie".
The answer "Drum & Bass" led to the host responding "we need Jungle I'm afraid", which caused quite a few memes & remixes.
after years I’m sliding back into listening to drum and bass more.. please hit me up with fresh releases of this year. I’m very grateful for any recommendation released in 2023.
Zero T and myself were played by Mary Anne Hobbs on #BBC 6 Music today, as part of her 'Near Future' track. 'Jazz Type Thing' is the name of this one, inspired by Roni Size 'It's A Jazz Thing'. We bring you this chilled, but very definitely #DrumAndBass track.
One thing I wish it would’ve become something was more Drum & Bass tracks with reggaeton influences.
Back in the late 2000s the reggaeton movement in Puerto Rico was dabbling a bit with EDM elements. And in the UK at least one producer that I know managed to sample a reggaeton track and it was AMAZING.
It was Don Omar’s “Gata Ganster” song on top of a D&B track by an artist named Nina Red Foxx.
It's been a while since the last release, but now there's finally something new and deep at 172bpm. Berlin-style drum & bass. (bandcamp codes on patreon & youtube)
Hey choom, tough luck on your end. Somehow, you managed to end up on this XBD. Doesn't look good for you!

Happy Bandcamp Friday everyone! I have a new dnb/hardcore hybrid track out today, consider giving it a listen and maybe picking it. Also be sure to support your favorite artists today if you have the means, it really helps a lot.
For #BandcampFriday today I finally released my dreamy dnb album Spaceship Submarine.
It's 5 euros and it would mean a lot to me if you bought it. I've been without my usual paying work for a couple of months and my progress in saving so I can move to my own place and move on with my life has backslid.
Just snagged a new DenonSC Live console. Used to spin real vinyl years ago, but ended up selling it all. Now, I'm diving back in, and honestly, it's a blast without the hassle of lugging around records and dealing with turntables. Been playing around with some mixes in the evenings. Decided to record a little DnB mix I'm into. Check it out and enjoy!
One of the tracks I made for #FAWM 2024. It all came together within an hour. I took a bit more time for the mixdown. The recordings are from Berlin, Lichtenberg. I think the bleak apartment buildings and the industrial vibe really add something special to the track.
The project for #Bitwig will also be available here soon for Premium subscribers.
