The median comp. pkg for CEOs of cos. in the S&P 500 surged by 12.6% in 2023, reaching $16.3M. This increase exacerbates the existing pay gap b/w CEOs & workers. This increase comes at a time when wages & benefits for private-sector workers rose by 4.1%, exacerbating the pay disparity. At half of the surveyed cos., it'd take a median worker nearly 200 yrs to earn what their CEO makes in a single year.

If you adjust for increases in labour productivity, it could be done in seven or eight hours, 10 in Japan (see graph below). These increases in productivity come from a century of automation and technological advances.
Public Storage has cut back on employees so that the office is only staffed about 1/3 of the time...and the schedule is not posted. They've now made it so you have to pay a "transaction fee" of up to $20 to pay your rent by phone.
The only convenient methods they're allowing for payment are paying via the website or via an app, both of which allow them the usual data mining.

But what about the many artists, writers/authors, and creators whose copyrighted works OpenAI stole to create works resembling and replacing those people's products? Not famous enough to generate the same outrage, right? At least now, everyone knows how bad Sam Altman is. He thinks he is above the law. I'm full-blown diabetic and my doctor just put me on Ozempic to bring down my recently rising A1C. Would be terrible if a tag team of greedy drug companies, Tiktokers, trendy stars, and fashionistas ruined this for people who actually need it. Not to mention maybe toppling the entire health-care system, bad as it is in the U.S.
There's some diaspora #Asians on Vancouver Island (and several other places in Global North) who have severe #InternalizedRacism, to the point that they're not just #indoctrinated into #colonialism & capitalism but they're so self unaware of internalized racism that they don't even know when racist white folks #tokenize them to defend/justify racism & use them to push WS beliefs on their own peoples.
