2nd blooming of our front garden #rhododendron bush tree. It has its first blooms in February & the colour is light pink. It changes to this deep #red colour, on 2nd bloom times 🥰
The two earliest blooming rhododendrons in my mom’s garden, both tower over me. She planted both of them many years ago, as well as every other one in this giant garden.
Made my semi-annual trip to the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden. It's pretty early in the season so there's not much going on outside, but the conservatory is always worth a look.

Many rhododendrons are tropical and won't survive outdoors even in the mild #PNW climate. Like this Rhododendron rugosum from Borneo. Gorgeous leaves. Flowers are nice too.

Rhododendron Soecies Botanical Garden thread part 3. Lots of other cool plants in the greenhouse too. That Begonia looks deadly. The plant with the purple flowers is a Prumulina I think (there was no tag).
RSBG is in Federal Way, #Washington, between #Seattle and #Tacoma. Stop in if you can, it makes a great stop on a road trip. April and May are the best months to visit.
