Hey friends! After a long hiatus, I'm starting #streaming again - as mentioned in an earlier post, I'm going to be figuring out how to create #apt / #yum repos. I've done some very simple #pypi in the past, and may do some work on that, too. We'll see what we can get done in the time I'll be spending.
Netflix lost 1 million users in Spain following the crackdown on password-sharing. The streaming service has been slowly introducing an extra $7.99 per month for each household a subscriber shares their account password with. Could this be the future of streamers?
I decided to learn the Rust programming language, just to change things up a bit. So I worked through the first part of the rust book on stream and just kind of played around and explored it.
Initial impressions are that I like some of the ideas, but I'm unsure how they shake out in more serious usage. I'll be pondering it and working through more of the book later on to get a better picture of the whole thing.
We cancelled all of our #streaming to support the #WGAstrike, & are uncovering a long-ignored trove of DVDs & VCR tapes (we have a working VCR!).
Last night was #Juno w/Elliot Page. Tonight, one of my all-time favorites: #RubyInParadise w/Ashley Judd.
Respect to workers whose labor opened up a wider, wilder world for me, evoked sympathy & understanding for new people & cultures, made me laugh, gave new ideas & taught history & compassion.

Do I keep watching a show I'm really enjoying even though I just learned that the show was cancelled with a huge cliffhanger & the season I'm on is the last.

I've been a little less active on the #streaming front so I haven't had to delete my old VODs in a while but I'm starting to push 500 GB with my storage provider again so it's spring cleaning time.
I do download and archive my streams to long term storage. Maybe when I win the lottery I'll re-upload all of them for good but for now my funds are finite.
At least it's better than twitch or YouTube which have a much shorter retention period for their live streaming VODs. I keep mine for 3 months
