People in the U.S. complain about disruptive #protests, but the country has systematically closed down venues for #dissent. Want to vote for a non-genocidal President? Sorry, two-party system. Want to pass progressive legislation? Sorry, filibuster. Want to support the #Palestinians? Sorry, our ally is #Israel. Want your #university to divest from armaments? Sorry, fiduciary duty. Want to write some graffiti? Sorry, #vandalism. So disruption may be all we have left, short of #violence.
History has shown us that, when left unchecked, hateful activity will grow and escalate.
That is clear when looking at the pattern of #Patriot#Front’s behavior.
The group has moved from flyering and stickering on college campuses,
to outright property destruction,
to in-person marches that have resulted in alleged assaults of people of color
Plaintiffs brought this lawsuit to hold the Patriot Front accountable for their escalating campaign of #vandalism and #intimidation and to send a message that hateful activity will not be tolerated.
It takes courage to stand up to hate,” said Arthur Ago, Director of the Criminal Justice Project.
"Law enforcement park rangers at Lake Mead National Recreation Area are seeking information from the public to help identify suspects involved in a vandalism incident at the Redstone Dunes Trail area.
In a video posted to social media that was reportedly recorded on the evening of Sunday, April 7, 2024, two adult males are seen toppling natural rock formations from the top of a cliff.
Information from visitors is very helpful to investigators. Law enforcement park rangers are asking the public for help. If you were on the Redstone Dunes Trail on the evening of Sunday, April 7, 2024"
Coming across from #Stow, we passed the sight of the old mediaeval #hospital, the Soutra Aisle with a road sign on the road indicating Soutra Isle 🤣) one of the most important institutions in #medieval Scotland.
All that is left is a stone roofed building. Unfortunately the #bams have been at it and some of the information boards have been vandalised and torn away 😳.
Today in Labor History March 11, 1811: Luddites attacked looms near Nottingham, England, because automation was threatening their jobs. At the time, workers were suffering from high unemployment, declining wages, an “endless” war with France and food scarcity. On March 11, they smashed machines in Nottingham and demonstrated for job security and higher wages. The protests and property destruction spread across a 70-mile area of England, reaching Manchester. The government sent troops to protect the factories and made machine-breaking punishable by death.
Today in Labor History February 19, 1990: After a 10-month strike, rank-and-file miners at the Pittston Coal Co. ratified a new contract. Ninety-eight miners and a minister occupied a Pittston Coal plant in Carbo, Virginia, inaugurating the year-long strike. While a one-month Soviet coal strike dominated the U.S. media, the year-long Pittston strike received almost no media coverage. The wildcat walkouts involved 40,000 miners in Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky. Over 2,000 people occupied Camp Solidarity. Miners and their families engaged in Civil Disobedience, pickets, work stoppages and sometimes sabotage, vandalism and violence. Over 4,000 were arrested.
Today in Labor History January 19, 1812: Luddites torched Oatlands Mill in Yorkshire, England. In order to avoid losing their jobs to machines, Luddites destroyed equipment in protest. Their movement was named for Ned Ludd, a fictional weaver who supposedly smashed knitting frames after being whipped by his boss. Luddite rebellions continued from 1811-1816, until the military quashed their uprising.
Chant no more your old rhymes about bold Robin Hood
His feats I but little admire
I will sing the Achievements of General Ludd
Now the Hero of Nottinghamshire.
The sentiment for this poem comes from the fact that Robin Hood was a paternalistic hero, a displaced aristocrat who stole from his class brethren and gave to the poor; whereas Ned Ludd represented the autonomy and self-sufficiency of the working class.
A painting’s “value” is given by the subjective appreciation of the beholder. However it contains no life in it. Apart from perhaps some microorganisms living on its surface, it’s a sterile lifeless object.
A rainforest’s “value” can’t be quantified in a similar way. One m2 of it holds millions or billions of living beings and constitutes a living ecosystem. How do you price that?

ROBERT TRUJILLO Recalls Getting Hit In The Head With A Bottle At SUICIDAL TENDENCIES Concert: 'My Face Was Bleeding'

Some details have started emerging about the circumstances under which the over 300-year-old historic cola tree, said to have been planted by the famous Okomfo Anokye fetish priest at Feyiase near Kumasi, was cut down.
Wow. Someone has cut the cables for the 7KW EV chargers in #PortAlberni. 😮 There is a "15 minute cities" speaker doing an event soon. I can't help but wonder if this is related somehow. Or perhaps they want the (minimal) copper wire? #conspiracytheory#EV#Vandalism
People who engage in #hate#attacks and #vandalism while wearing #masks are the biggest #cowards on the planet. If they're so proud of themselves and their actions and their cause, why are they #hiding their #faces? It's because they know they're #scumbags, and they know what they're doing is legally, morally, and socially unacceptable. And they're terrified of having their #identity exposed for fear of the #consequences. That's a #coward.
...not for good reasons though. Wish this would stop happening every year. Glad we're finally getting some coverage of it though; you'd think after the arson last year there would've been at least some attention.
the circus that currently performs in finnish government is getting so out of hands that im just waiting for the day it just implodes in on it self like couple billionaires in a submarine.
More Pride flags celebrating local Pride week vandalised in Finland. Video featuring burning flags and a bible quote circling in social media.
I’ve lost count how many there’s been this year, (maybe 4?) but I remember quite vividly the one where a far right nazi planning several terrorist attacks, manufacturing 3D printed weapons etc, turned out to be the same person who vandalised pride flags on video in Oulu some time ago. #politicsFI#pride#nazis#finland#vandalism#hateCrimes#humanRights
