My dear husband @gpumoto got bored after having built the handicapped bathroom for my café, so he ordered some wood for his new workshop.
Getting that big pile of wood into the hall was a bit of a challenge, but with some wiggeling and a lot of expertise, Gray got it done!
The advantage of living in an industrial zone is having all sorts of building companies nearby!
I'd forgotten this. My sister's neighbor made a hole in their fence so the dog could look out and, presumably, get “good boy" scritches. #SunDog#DogsOfMastodon#woodwork
One can turn random wood scraps into unique handmade gifts with just a laser cutter, copper wire, belt sander, stain, and linseed oil. All the tools and materials you need can be found in our HARDROOM!
A neighbor brought over some milo wood to play with; I roughed out a ladle and discovered a bunch of things in the not-quite-done / needs-attention pile that wanted a coat of Howard's butcher block conditioner.
Feeling very happy with the olive-wood spurtles; they are a great all-purpose tool in the kitchen and stand up well to re-finishing.
A tale of four trugs- I iterated through a few designs trying to get an ideal garden trug. MK I was too narrow. MK II was too small all over and didn't let the dirt fall through. MK III was probably the best looking but way too heavy. MK IV seems to be just right. Recycled timber and MK I - MK III have now found new homes.
I found that this reminded me of the Pagan wheel of the year and incorporated that idea into the final shot the gazebo ceiling while at the botanical garden. There are even 8 spaces, one for each Sabbat.
The "biscuit cutter" power tool works with joints over an inch, which means picture frames need to be largish to fit. After doing one set individually I went for the 4-in-a-row approach. Cuts down on tool pickup and putdowns. #Woodwork
Finished this one today! Most of this #guitar is #upcycled. The red oak neck is dovetailed to the body, which used to be a chair in my parents' house. The head came from the foot of their table. Ironic!
Walnut and sycamore inlay, wenge fretboard and knobs. I designed and 3d printed the pickups. Magnets are from an old toy, wound by an #Arduino winder I designed. The steel "wings"/pickup mounts were cut from an old PC case. The steel on the head was a spare IKEA part.
I bought a $0.50 book today: country woodcraft by drew langsner. I'm only 20 pg in, but he's spent a great deal of time covering the uses for bits of wood that are commonly discarded (roots, bark, twigs).
I love this thorough use of materials! #reduce_reuse_recycle#woodwork#oldways
