Adding something to a TODO list makes it generally less likely that I'll do it.
If I add it to the list, then I'm far less likely to just remember it, because it has less permanence. So whether I'm later reminded, depends on whether I remember to check the list.
So for each case, I have to evaluate which of those two is more likely.
Then for anything I'm reasonably confident of remembering -- it's more likely to happen if I don't create a reminder for it.
@SaraSoueidan I lean on contextual reminders a lot -- like, if I have to do Y and I know that X will remind me of Y, then I only need to remember X, if that makes sense?
@siblingpastry That’s the main reason I need a todo manager with start dates. Just throw todos at me that I could do today and have me organize or ignore them. 😂
@Faintdreams A good argument against claims of purposeful design, really (along with many others; my wife says "knees!".). And there are fair arguments that consciousness is an accidental side effect of trying to manage multiple social relationships in growing primate bands, or indeed a lie told by the brain to itself.
@Faintdreams 0-20 is a really big range, I'd consider 6 to be around what's my highest. I can't think properly with many tabs open, also being someone that never really had good hardware to handle this kind of thing, it has always been weird to me. I usually have one for YouTube and then maybe some other 3.
About 80% of being late-diagnosed #neurodivergent (#ADHD, #autistic, or #Audhd) is finding out that we're not horrible fuckups who lack the willpower or moral fortitude to function like the normies. But rather that our brains just run on different firmware and we were never taught how deal with.
The most #ADHD thing I ever did was then I took out the trashes in mid winter.
I literally skipped down the stairs of the apartment building I lived in without noticing that I did not have keys or shoes on. Dropped my trashes. Walked back to the back door, and tried to yank it open. Not just once, mind you. At least 3 times.
So I RAN to my friend's place in a light blizzard, dressed in my loose t-shirt and sweatpants, to get my spare key and spare shoes.
This comes as a surprise because
1.) I've had the Rx filed by Walmart off-and-on over the past 20 years or so.
2.) I had no issues with #CVS / no idea that this was "a thing"
Now closer to a WM pharm vs the prev CVS, it made sense to have this month sent here
(Adderall patients are forced through this rigmarole every 30 days).
