If we want the world on the #fediverse because it's decentralized, we're gonna need to decentralize how we economically support server infrastructure and their staff. Otherwise, pressuring those few money transfer middlemen becomes the entire network's chokepoint.
Do you think the #fediverse should grow and possibly become a mainstream social platform, or should it stay smaller like it is now and more so for those who want a smaller scale social experience, #privacy, or something else?

https://instances.social/sleeping.town shows it to have 100 times more users than mastodon.social and an equally unlikely number of statuses. The site itself is empty.
It's causing a distortion in the aggregate instance numbers so can the domain be de-listed?
When #fediverse servers communicate, they need a way to ensure that messages do not get altered in transit and that the person claiming to have sent it really did so (otherwise anyone could send messages as someone else, the problem that plagues email).

The home page for the WebFinger protocol really needs a much better introduction to what it does. It should be used widely and supported on nearly every website, especially for media orgs. With it people can put their global identifier on business cards, profile pages and presentation slides so everyone can look them up this way.
