@GrimmReality I read this five times and I think I get it:
“Bikes were for a long time associated with the French, who are also associated with smoking and cafes. The right was all like lol the French don’t want to invade Iraq so fuck biking. But then people started using bikes instead of cars and I own Exxon stock. Nazis should invade cycling groups to make them suck. Yay Exxon stock!!!”
@trillytrill they are, no shit, very very seriously mad at the rainbow being expropriated and coopted by "degenerates" because it SHOULD be a beautiful symbol of God's creation and God doesn't count LGBTQ people as things he created because he takes a break from omnipotence every tenth person or so or some bugfuck interpretation of unfathomable archaic garbage that only THEY, the genuinely dumbest people in the world, are privy to.
@GrimmReality@trillytrill This reminds me of the people who got angry at Pink Floyd for "going woke" for incorporating a rainbow in their FB profile pic to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the album "The Dark Side of the Moon".
American neo-Nazis are stupider than you can even imagine, especially when they are soclose to not being stupid but will never ever get over that nickel-high speedbump owing to how stupid they are because of their dogmatic commitment to neo-Nazism. Thanks to @emmreef for this absolute gem.
OH and lest any credulous "civility"-lobby passersby feel the need to hop on the thread to try to delineate who in the American Conservative Influencer Caucus is and isn't a neo-Nazi, take it on the arches, pal, no rational human has time for your dissembling bullshit. We're a few thousand votes from unwinning World War II in this fucking country so move your sealioning ass down the pike to facebook.
@shayz0rz I just wish evangelicals were capable of shame but their literal interpretation of their dogma is they have a get-out-of-being-a-dumb-malignant-piece-of-shit-free card as long as they're loud master-race assholes about it.
@GrimmReality@shayz0rz unfortunately it's not that far from a mainstream protestant interpretation. You're forgiven for whatever as long as you have faith in Jesus.
Being hateful in Jesus's name is optional.
Most Christians would probably say you need to at least try to follow God's rules, but it doesn't seem necessary in the "Salvation by Grace alone" dogma
@jack_of_sandwich@shayz0rz I think maybe that pretty much just goes back to Paul, like removing behavior prescribed by the teachings in favor of blanket-fealty-to-the-overlord.
I have been stupid in my life and, even when I got a bit smarter, lived amongst brilliant people relative to whom I was stupid, so being stupid is not intrinsically bad, it can be a base from which you work to be less stupid.
It's when an actual movement of people comes along and says YOU MUST BE EXACTLY AS STUPID AND AWFUL AS WE ARE TO BE A PROPER PERSON AND ASSIMILATE INTO A GODLY UTOPIA OF GRINDING HOPE-STOMPING STUPID that you should do the work to make sure those people never ever have an iota of influence on anyone else's life.
Yeah, honestly, I GET it but there's no shock left to be apportioned out to how genuinely, breathlessly stupid American conservatives are. This is just a thing we have to contend with now and, ideally, marginalize, every day of every week, world-without-end-amen. Because they're REALLY this bad and they REALLY supported a coup to end America as a constitutional republic and they do that because they are verifiably stupid, shit people working intrepidly to smash human freedom. https://techhub.social/@zappy/112222210376850455
Walsh is a goddamn moron, telling him that and posting pictures of #MaxHeadroom in his twitter timeline got me IP banned by that site before Musk took it over!
@GrimmReality As I like to point out ever so often in a humble brag, “I have two more engineering degrees than Elon Musk, so trust me when I say, he’s a moron”
