I’m trying to find a blog post that I read a while ago, and hoping someone here might be able to help. It was about 5e vs OSR, and how the OSR is built for GMs, but 5e is built for players. It talked about “play beyond the table” or something like that, basically the type of “solo play” that a GM does in prepping for a session (worldbuilding, making NPCs, building dungeons, etc.) and how players don’t get that type of play in the OSR, but do in 5e thinking about builds.
We're loving the sidekick rules in our family D&D game but I'm having a hard time balancing the encounters, something I'm not very good at anyway. Definitely a challenge!

How am I not over this by now. Years and years of being a GM and full time for almost two years.

Me: it does look pretty deadly…

Yay all prepped for tonight's D&D session. It's the Ghibli campaign and I'm excited.
Last time the players saved the soot sprites and were rewarded with magical candy and the sprites performing an epic German opera commemorating the events.

I am making an #Underworld setting in #5E. And need a healing mechanic for the Immortals. Something they can use in a hunger system. And am looking for some #Mastodon feedback.
Current process is "2d4 + Con mod". Players can use it with an action. And gain a hunger. They have 3 hungers (lvl 1-4) before they lose control. And have other Immortal abilities that use hunger.

Celestial Warlock, Pact of the Tome, planning to go Divine Soul Sorcerer at 4th level and onward.
Worried about that changeover, I'm the sort of actor that needs to do it for a while to warm into it. Also, always been a way better director (DM) than actor (Player.)
