These chickens are giving me the side-eye. The closest ones look at me with their right eye, the ones further away with their left eye.
This is because the right eye is nearsighted and the left eye is far-sighted - so when they get closer, the head switches sides.
Chickens can also see UV light, so they perceive more of the spectrum than humans, but they have extremely poor nightvision and thus go to bed (roost) early.
Today is #BigGreenEgg#Grilling day. Today’s menu will be a #Chicken, done at 170°C (~340 F), in about 70 miniutes until it reaches a core temperature of 73°C (~165 F).
We have no potatos and sweet pepper available right now, so we don’t follow the recipe 100%. But it will turn out great, this one is for sure. 🤣
Made some #chicken#curry for our family #dinner tonight. Made it medium spicy as my middle brother doesn't like super spicy. We're having it with jasmine rice.
Update on our lone chicken: she's found a way to escape fence (and return), she's made a dirt bath outside my office window, she just realized it's pouring rain and could someone THINK ABOUT THE POOR CHICKEN, HELP??!!
"The traditional #chicken industry faces #environmental challenges that are increasingly hard to ignore. Production is heavily reliant on feed made primarily from corn and soybeans, which demands significant #water resources.
For instance, it takes approximately 1.82 pounds of feed to produce just one pound of chicken. The cultivation of these feed crops is also the largest source of water consumption in the industry."
My cooking today is more like preparing a snack. Fast, easy, but nevertheless delicious.
I just marinated some chicken filet (the smaller, inner ones) asian style with some chili and garlic and ginger. They'll be fried in a pan in a few hours. And I cooked a sweet-sharp dip with even more garlic.
I love garlic, you probably noticed that. 🧄 😄
That'll make for a nice meal without much ado.
It is even low-carb, no?
