Hmmmmmmm. The scentl of garlic on my fingers. 🙂

My cooking today is more like preparing a snack. Fast, easy, but nevertheless delicious.
I just marinated some chicken filet (the smaller, inner ones) asian style with some chili and garlic and ginger. They'll be fried in a pan in a few hours. And I cooked a sweet-sharp dip with even more garlic.
I love garlic, you probably noticed that. 🧄 😄

That'll make for a nice meal without much ado.
It is even low-carb, no?

... "Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences Spicy Potato Chips Drama Snacks Snacks Shredded Potato Chips Potato Chips Internet Celebrity Shredded Potatoes" according to the translated Taobao blurb.

In short they're #PotatoChips. Canadians would be reminded of #OldDutch #barbecue chips, only with a bit more pepper and a smattering of other spices that would seem a bit exotic. This is because the actual flavour is 糊辣 (húlà) which is a #Yunnan style of spicing as opposed to the more famous (infamous?) #Sichuan 麻辣 (málà) "hot and tingling" style with Sichuan peppercorns.

These are very high quality potato chips, better than any of the big brands like Lays or Oishi or the like which are commonly found here. I'm definitely getting more when these five bags are finished.

And I'll be trying their mala flavour as well side by side.

What have you been having for lately?

Yesterday I made a plate of cheese, crackers, carrot and celery sticks, plus a cup of leftover pea, lentil &ham soup.

Not sure what to have today. Maybe a grilled cheese. Maybe a salami sandwich. Maybe cheap pack of ramen w added veg bits.

Needed a fast snack before making dinner. Super ravenous as fasted until evening, after 60 minutes back day weights plus about 70minutes bike cardio.

Sunflower seed rye bread. Peanut butter (Meridian good brand). Kimchee. Beetroot sauerkraut. Pinch sprinkle of chilli spices and salt. Simple spicy tasty.

This puffed variety of karioka (we don't know the real name of it) is the current obsession in our household.

It's deep fried puffed mochi ball covered in cracking caramelized sugar. Even if cold, it still retains shape and crispiness.

Some pumpkin seeds from last weekend's pumpkin-pie making. K dried them out and we collaborated on soya sauce, spices and herbs marinade, then into the oven to dry out for a few hours. A great autumn food!

Inspired by @LifeTimeCooking we decided to try to make farinita. We'd planned on doing it last weekend but realized we had no gram flour. We soaked the mixture overnight, and then we added carnalized onions, cherry tomatoes, and some cumin powder, chili flakes, and oregano.

Did you know that the Romans' favourite went ?

Besides honey & grape juice, meals in were flavoured with imported dates from Judea ().

Date palm fronds were symbolic of - lawyers pinned them to their doors & generals wore special "toga palmata".

Judean dates were also shelf-stable & delicious.

Sadly, by the 19th c., they had vanished.

Except for a few 2000-year-old seeds.

They were successfully germinated in 2020.
