I’m on an energy saving kick.
So far this month between the hours of midnight and 8am we are averaging 1.2kWh per hour of use.
I can only account for a max of 400Wh/hr and even that is a high estimate.
No ac on. All computers shutdown.
The only thing running is about 200w of network gear, refrigerator and freezer. And some phone chargers.

My original zine is public domain, meaning anyone can print it, sell it, modify it, or do whatever they want. Nothing makes me happier than seeing folks remix and distribute it like this.
After hours of calibrating the Mitre saw and almost losing my mind over it, it is done.
No wonder I struggled with this saw. The calibration was maxed out and I had to file the elongated holes in the fence longer to actually get it true. Plus, aligning the blade to the slot first was a real hassle. Eventually made a spacer with good result.
Then it checked out at 90° but not at 45° until I realized this red square had a problem too. You can probably spot it!
Made a mount for it that hangs back and aside, so it can double as handle, the camera can stand up straight on it and the access door for the USB connector of the camera isn't blocked.
It took ages to figure out a position which enabled all of the above, but then that's why you make your own kit.
Works pretty well and happy with the result. Satisfying amount of salvaged parts, too.
I wonder if B&Q ever considered how much their website harms their brick & mortar stores. I used to check the B&Q website before going to the store to see if they had what I want in stock, but now the website is a "market place", which means 95% of the stuff on there is never available in store - its mostly sold online and shipped by third parties. There's no way to filter out this crap, so now I can't check if I'll have a wasted journey, so I go to their competitors' stores instead.

Now I'm wondering: is there a collection of contraptions and levels built for @principia to play with it around like in #TheIncredibleMachine? Sort of a #RubeGoldbergMachine, but with #DIY set to make more such levels, you know... :ablobcatwave:
Ignore the dust. This is the unit bearing the front USB3 ports of my PC case, a CoolerMaster N400. When opening this, I thought I would find a circuit board that I can easily trace and solder. Nope. It's just a piece of black plastic held together by dark forces. The lower port is broken. It works if I bend it upwards with considerable force, but it doesn't stay like that. I assume it's a broken solder joint and there's still a PCB inside. I wonder if the plastic would be able to withstand 150°C or so for 10 minutes. Maybe I could try reflowing it with the case on? #Repair#USB#DIY#Electronics#Computer#PC
