Good news! After a second visit to the doctor, and her checking out my still infected ear, we’ve got a path for a different medication to try* and I had my ear (which was clear on Tuesday) flushed out.

My ear drum is still angry, but less angry than it was, and I can now hear much better than I could with all the infectious gunk cleared out.

But here’s the thing. That new medication? The only one that’s really safe for me to have because of my having ? It’s nearly $200 AFTER a discount code AND factoring in insurance.

We have an HSA. I’m good. We can afford this one drug this one time.

But holy mother of frick does this highlight, yet again, that will fuck with your health at every turn to make a quick buck for some rich ass bastard in a guilded room somewhere.

Essentially, my having a genetic condition means that some big Pharma CEO can have the another pound of Wagyu beef with their lunchtime dinner date.

@aral I favor a 100% tax at $1,000,000,001+, that way they can still claim they are a billionaire.

An estimate of how biased our media is just hit me in the face. A list of the 14 richest Americans was just posted on Facebook. I knew who all of them were. They are famous for being rich. If you showed me a list of the 14 top architects in America, I probably wouldn't know any of them. Or the 14 best brain surgeons. Or the 14 most popular rappers. The 22 members of the British Cabinet? I'd heard of two. All of these people do more for the world than those 14 rich guys.

Nice. Another example of big company having record profits while cutting salaries. But don’t worry, they have plenty of money to lobby that absurd 69 billion $ deal to acquire another gaming conglomerate.

8 men control as much as the poorest half of the world's population, roughly 3.6 billion people.
That's four hundred fifty million people each billionaire must fight to maintain their wealth.
These are very good odds.
I say we go get the motherfuckers.

A billionaire does things for many reasons. None of those are in your interests unless you also happen to be a billionaire.

The sooner you learn this, the sooner we can start doing something about it.

The top 25 richest Americans are together worth just over 1.9 trillion dollars. Let’s say we were to wipe them out and leave each with a paltry 1 billion dollars. Then we divide their assets amongst every American who lives below the poverty line. That would give every single person in poverty slightly over $50K. Could you imagine? You still have 25 billionaires, but now 37.9 million don’t have to figure out whether they’re eating or paying their bills for a while. That’s what means.
