My primary Mastodon instance is iosdev.space, and I try to keep my posts aligned with that community.
However, I still occasionally put random thoughts not about iOS development on Twitter / X.
I feel like I could use this instance a little better.
I do like that #Fosstodon seems to be running a slightly different version of the web UI, but I dont know enough about the underpinnings to dive deeper.
I completely respect the #fosstodon admins' choice, but personally, I just blocked the Threads . net domain from interacting with my account.
If anything I have not missed anything coming from zuck-owned platforms for over a decade now, and I'm 100% confident I won't miss anything in the future. But if by some twist later on they can still reach / scrape my stuff in the future, then I'll probably have to resort to start hosting my own.
The first #Fosstodon community Meetup is in the books. Thanks so much to everybody that made it, and thank you to @isaacs for a great talk. Can't wait to do it again!

Btw, please don't use #fosstodon if you are serious about privacy and security, fosstodon is man-in-the-middle'd by the Cloud(G)lare Corporation (swap the G for an F).
This maybe an easy one for others to answer... Does each instance have its own character limit? Fosstodon has 500 but some posts from other instances are huge and I have to scroll through the text on my phone to get to the end. #Fosstodon friends, how feasible would it be to have firewall rules that block all connections except those from specific ISPs? How can I find a reliable source of IP ranges to allowlist?
I have a NAS that I'd like to allow family and friends to access over the internet but also I'd like to "reduce the attack surface" by not allowing connections from places I would never go to, for example, why allow connections from Antarctica if I'll never go there..

No llevo ni un mes en el #fediverso y, como no podía ser de otro modo, ya m'e dáo cuenta q'es "peligroso" pá mí, pues soy excesivamente curioso y, además, me auto-infoxico con tantas noticias q leo. Hace unos días, por aquello de ser nuevo por estos lares, le preguntaba a @rober, @minfer, etc, q por qué estaban en varias instancias. Ahora, unos días después, ya sé hasta en las otras instancias q quiero crearme una cuenta y, así, estar "más mejôh" informáo de primera mano, 😜!
Si no fuese porque tengo un examen ("tó toçho"), en ná y menos., ya estaría preguntando a las personitas de @fosstodon cómo entrar allí (pues leí algo de q sólo s'entra con invitaçión) y, además, m'abría creáo cuentas en varias instancias más de #mastodon, 🤨!
