Implemented menu icons in idkbin 1.3.6! They make the UI feel a lot more polished imo.
I also made these a standalone userstyle if you just want those.

Before 2023 ends, I would like to thank @puniko @moshibar @sarahquartz and @koyu for helping me get into the expanded Fediverse. #Fediverse isn't just Mastodon, I already got into #kbin and #lemmy. I feel that #sharkey and #glitchsoc would be better.

Looks like the has been widely used by the and communities for years, but now it's slowly being co-opted (including by staff) to refer to the of .

I predict a complete takeover of the , and term in general, before the end of 2024.

Trying out and and my first impressions is that both are aggravating. Each has some positive aspects. But, besides both feeling very quiet, each one has UI aspects that drive me up the wall. I have followed the same 13 or so communities in each and I'll give it a go. But I think it might be a better tool for a distinct community rather than to replicate the experience.

OC Updates on Interstellar kbin app: account login, voting, subscriptions, and more

If you haven't been following the Interstellar magazine, I've added a lot of functionality since the last thread here, including views for magazines/users/domains, better navigation for wider screens, QoL additions (like the @ button to reveal originating domain, inspired by Artemis), and a lot of different bug/functionality...

Hopefully I won't abandon it, but if I did, it is open source, so at least someone else could pick it up (at some point, I'd like to get more maintainers, so I'm not the only one). Here you go for a chat room: kbin-interstellar:matrix.org, I did matrix to keep it close to the other kbin rooms.

That would be amazing! Right now, the code is very unorganized, and the general workflow is unstructured, just so you know what to expect :) since it's only really two weeks old. Feel free to make pull requests for bug fixes, feature implementations, code organization improvements, etc. (later, I might have a more concrete list of what I'm trying to do). Also, considering this is only my first real Flutter app, it would be great to have suggestions for the overall code structure (right now it's a mess). If you want, you can join the matrix room as well, that'll make discussion easier.

I still find the cultural differences between / and / / mildly interesting.

For instance, it seems that on the question of blocking , lemmy et al is clearly more keen than masto.

See https://fedipact.veganism.social/?v=2

I’d attribute this to Reddit always being more aligned with fediverse values/structures, based on self-organising sub-reddits. Many on lemmy are “live free or die”.

Masto culture by comparison still seems interested in being the one place.

Just learned that you can have dropdowns in Stylus settings, and I've implemented that in idkbin 1.3.5! Now you can choose from both of the "more" icons I was considering, among many other new options.
