Why do we never see Michael Gove hounded for his many financial irregularities when people who went to the wrong schools have all their business splashed across the papers?
Everywhere this man goes in Government he causes harm
“I don’t represent Hamas, I don’t talk for Hamas. I represent British Muslims in a British organisation,” she says. “In our faith, the killing of any innocent civilians, we condemn. And that’s it. Why would my position be any different from that?”
Interview with Zara Mohammed, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, the UK’s largest Muslim umbrella group, with more than 500 affiliated members.
"Organisations and individuals that breach a new official definition of extremism will be excluded from meetings or any engagement with ministers, senior civil servants, government advisory boards and funding.
Councils will be expected to follow the government’s lead, cutting any financial ties or support to individuals or groups that have been categorised as extremist"
Michael Gove goes full fascist..let's see if Labour call this out.
@junesim63
I wonder if it has occurred to #MichaelGove that following the forthcoming #GE, he and many other current #Conservative MPs (Braverman, Patel, Anderson) will be included in the definition of #extremist and by their own rules excluded from public life.
Andy Beckett (Guardian) on the toxicity of #MichaelGove:
'for many who have to live in the country that austerity & Brexit built, [Gove's] brand of Toryism will probably be remembered for two things: fanaticism & misplaced confidence. To adapt a quote from his hero, Winston Churchill: never in the field of British politics was so much damage done to so many by so few'!
A timely reminder that at the heart of the #Tories wrecking acts sits Micheal Gove!
Yet another case where Michael Gove overruled significant opposition, using spurious reasons to approve an indefensible project.
Gove destroyed education in this country and has gone on to destroy its very fabric. This toxic little ideologue should never again be allowed near government.
I was going to post something on #MichaelGove's new plans for relaxing planning restrictions on brown field sites as part of the #Tories 'response' to the #housingcrisis.... but then I thought:
a) Gove is an arch bulls*tter & so his words really are meaningless in policy terms; and
b) how likely is it now that anting a Tory announces will become policy, unless the Labour Party decide to pick it up (which is a lively if often negatively pitched discussion in my timeline).
Good Law Project.
Today we can reveal – after a six month freedom of information battle with the Cabinet Office – that Michael Gove greased the wheels of Unispace’s £679m PPE deals. Details of how they were able to secure a place on the unlawful fast-track scheme have been hidden – until now.
At least £3.67m worth of PPE supplied by Unispace was unusable in an NHS setting.
And we thought the Michelle Moanalot scandal was bad enough.
£680 million!
Old Govey seems to have had a bit of a thing for putting cronies into the VIP lane. Wonder what it was worth to him? Not that I would ever suggest there was any such impropriety. Oh no…
“I think almost all the time decisions were made in the public health benefit of the people of Scotland but I think the Scottish Government believed that its handling of these matters was somehow superior to that of the UK Government and that people would appreciate that and be prompted to think how much better might life be if we gave the Scottish Government more powers and moved further down the path towards independence.”
You'll recall his much heralded relaxation of David Cameron's effective ban on #onshorewind turbines (by removing the one person veto on planning applications)... but because he did little else, leaving planning for #Wind on land still pretty tough, there remain no on-going onshore wind generation projects.
It may be too early to conclude his action was completely useless but the indication(s) are not good
There's a curious new rhetorical strategy I'm encountering more and more often in online spaces wherein ignorance about a claim is taken to refute it. It goes a bit like the script below. It's the death-of-expertise script, but with an additional twist.
Gove toured every TV Radio studio, every newspaper & lobbying opportunity, every panel or current affairs show relentlessly to set himself up as the 'expert' on why the country should do Brexit, while not only deriding all independent expertise, but even deriding the idea of attempting to do research itself.
