Picked up a nearly new copy of Genghis Khan II for $15, which was a steal.

Sadly, my quest to get all of Koei’s simulation releases only gets more expensive from here.

Four games that blew me away when I first played them: and the systems where I experienced them.

  1. Seaquest -
  2. Ferrari 355 Challenge - /
  3. Red Dead Redemption II -
  4. Donkey Kong - /

Share some of your all-time greats if you wish :)

@gpowerf I grew up on the and played the hell out of a lot of games, but non of them blew me away in the way that the next gen consoles did .. so.

  1. Willow
  2. Aladdin
  3. Zelda ALTTP
  4. F1

... and the undisputed champion ...

  1. Quake III Arena

Honorable mentions, because this are the ones I played the most:

This week @miona is BACK for VGM Wednesday! Welcome back!

She comes at us with a fantastic theme of "Super Sixteen Bit."

From the Genesis / SNES era, one of my favorite beat 'em ups is Comix Zone. For those who never played, it tells the story of a comic book artist who gets pulled into his own comic by it's main villain. He then has to fight from panel to panel to survive. It's cool and has a 16-bit rock inspired soundtrack.

Here's the entire soundtrack: https://invidious.slipfox.xyz/watch?v=o1QAKVfRFas

Last night I enjoyed a little known game for : Devastator. Years ago I never bothered to play past stage 1, but afterwards it gets much better. Especially the shmup stages 3 and 5 are enjoyable. New footage recorded from real hardware:

Yesterday I finished my Global Game Jam game with @danilobezerra 😃

It's made for Sega MegaDrive/Genesis, and it works on actual hardware ✨

It's written in C, with SGDK through the Marsdev toolchain, I also made a little music with Furnace Tracker

I shared some curiosities and tips on Cohost, since it would not fit here well:

Discovered today that Gauntlet 4 for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive has an awesome soundtrack.

The game features a 4 player port of the original and some new modes like an RPG Quest Mode. Some details: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauntlet%5C_IV

YouTube links to the OST on its own and a playthrough of the quest mode to see things in action:

The game's soundtrack was composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata.

Still working hard on Chords. We will have an update video soon. It won't show any new locations (We don't want to show you the entire game in previews!) 😅 BUT it will look significantly different!

I know I’ve been in a “retro games are great I miss those simpler times we have to go back” mood as of late, but I broke out the Mega Sg to play Columns III and Mega Bomberman with my wife and twins, and we all had a super fun time.

I really wish had more casual-friendly 4-player games.

I think a few sport games like NHL, Madden were also for 4 players and NBA Jam. Idk how old your kids are and if you are into fighting games, but Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 as well.

You can also have fun with 2 player games and changing after each level or something like that. Then there would be more choice.

And I still defend it. 😤

I got two new 6 button retrobit controllers for my . They worked for an hour, then both died at the same time after I resetted the game. Then I got an original Sega 6 button controller. Worked fine for 2 days, then button X died. Now I'm wondering if the controllers are such junk or my Mega Drive is killing them. Is that even possible? I measured the ports during a reset and couldn't find anything unusual there.

My / collection as we begin 2024, versus where it was at in Jan 2023 and Jan 2022.

It's been a slow, gradual rebuilding of my library, but I've been trying to get anything I buy for reasonable prices, which isn't easy at this point.

I like how it's shaping up, though!

My Mega Drive / Genesis collection at the start of 2023. 54 CIB games.
My Mega Drive / Genesis collection at the start of 2022. 30 CIB games.
