Très intéressante info dans le domaine de la sociologie : une étude britannique indique que la #vaccination contre papillomavirus réduirait le risque de cancer du col de l'utérus de 90%.
please don't get me wrong, i am not saying raw milk drinking will become a vector. but the possibility is not zero. thanks to the same folks who killed so many with COVID
"Nearly 1.5 million teenage girls in some of the world’s poorest countries will miss the chance to be protected from cervical cancer because the drugmaker Merck has said it will not be able to deliver millions of promised doses of the HPV vaccine this year.
Merck has notified Gavi...that it will deliver only 18.8 million of the 29.6 million doses it was contracted to deliver in 2024, Gavi said."
'Thinking about getting a spring-time booster shot? A new study coming out of York University’s Centre for Disease Modelling in the Faculty of Science shows that immunity after a COVID-19 booster lasts much longer than the primary series alone.'
Nigeria has rolled out the world's first vaccine against all strains of meningitis. The shot will help ease the burden of disease in Africa's “meningitis belt.” Nigeria has become the first country in Africa's "meningitis belt" to introduce the new Men5CV or 'MenFive' meningitis vaccine. It is the world's first vaccine to...

'Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Wisconsin-Madison have developed a new vaccine that offers broad protection against not only SARS-CoV-2 variants, but also other bat sarbecoviruses. The groundbreaking trivalent vaccine has shown complete protection with no trace of virus in the lungs, marking a significant step toward a universal vaccine for coronaviruses.'
The number of vaccine skeptics is on the rise in the Netherlands, endangering the collective protection against diseases like the measles. Cartoon for Trouw.
Now that Covid is pretty much over I kinda feel like I missed out on a cultural moment by never getting it. All that masking, and social distancing and I don't even have any cool stories about scarred lung tissue to talk about!
Shingrix Vaccination (1 of 2) Achievement unlocked. On top of not wanting to have shingles, I've been reading about how there's an increase in shingles possibly because of lower immunity if one has been infected with Covid.
I did have older shingles vaccination years ago (paid out of pocket) because I wasn't going to wait till I was 50 to get it. But Shingrix is much more effective vaccine. Now I'm older, my insurance covered the cost.
“Name a force or impulse that threatens the stability of the American political system – distrust in the fairness of elections, conspiracy theorizing, the embrace of authoritarianism – and it is always more prevalent among rural Whites than among those living elsewhere."
~ Tom Schaller and Paul Waldman, White Rural Rage: The Threat to American Democracy (New York: Random House, 2024), p. 5
“The excess coronavirus deaths in rural counties should be classified as suicides by scientific skepticism. By rejecting proven vaccines, conspiracy-addled rural Americans, though living in communities where social distancing was easier than in densely populated cities, squandered their geographic advantage."
"All told, premature deaths from reduced healthcare access and facility closures, healthcare ignorance and scientific skepticism, and a fatal devotion to guns and drugs are killing rural white Americans—especially downscale rural whites.”

“The modelling identified one example scenario: In a 1,000-person community with a 75 per cent #vaccination level — and slower public health efforts to track and isolate cases — a #measles outbreak could grow to a median size of 100 or so people, the team found.
That would mean roughly 20 #hospitalizations, based on typical rates of severe disease from this highly contagious infection, which can lead to serious complications, such as pneumonia, brain inflammation and death.”
"We will have, I would think, very large outbreaks — many hundreds of people — in the coming year or two, simply because there are so many people who are susceptible,
While overall #vaccination rates in #Quebec remain high, Boileau stressed that there are some schools in the #Montreal area where uptake for the #measles vaccine is far lower, falling below 50, 40, or even 30 per cent.”
Family member caught the flu. Not anti-vax, but they declined to go get vaccinated because they were "too busy". Suffering now because they are now "too busy" AND sick with the flu. #vaccination
German man seeks out #covid#vaccination and receives 217 shots of eight vaccines -- "for personal reasons". Then agrees to be studied, and is found to have no apparent damage to his immune system.
