Happy to see some of my alternate cover crops lawn replacement seeds sowing efforts, slowly paying off. Lots of red & white clovers, more sedges, self heal, wild chamomile, plantain & wild sorrels are showing up on our front lawn space now 👩🌾🥰👍🌿👍
I found this #free#WineGrapes patch 3 years ago & made note to return each year to #harvest more #fruit 🍇 Took us about 10 minutes to pick a bag of #grapes 😁
I underestimated the harvest weight yesterday; we got closer to 8lbs in the bag I'm holding in the photo!
There's active #rewilding work being done in Newman Park in #CentralSaanich 👍
I saw new big leaf maple & garry oak #trees planted in the old pasture fields by the parking lot.
It's part of my musical park tour video that you can vicariously enjoy. I suggest watching this, when you need a little extra joy & natural beauty in your life: https://youtu.be/wJC97eCmVJM?si=vYmFJE7J33JOjH7s
A family home on #ProspectLake adjacent to a park has been #donated to the District of #Saanich to ensure the site is preserved as #parkland in $perpetuity.
It borders South Prospect Lake Park to the northwest, while to the east, it borders land leased by #PowerToBe, a #nonprofit devoted to getting people out into nature.
I'll be speaking shortly after 1pm. Please come & chat before or after & signup to volunteer for my upcoming community art for #Palestine#solidarity event ✌️🎨🇵🇸🍉💗
Collected a bunch of sweet #chestnuts yesterday afternoon from a fave secret harvesting spot. They're all nicely cleaned now. Roasting them this weekend.
The more commonly found horse chestnuts on the island here are toxic to humans & better used for natural arts & crafts. Only the sweet chestnuts are edible for humans.
From last Autumn when Anjali came over from Vancouver to pick me up for some collaborative political work. She loved my #LittleFreeLibrary in South #Saanich 😊📚
Some of the #footpath#NatureTrails we walked on today 😊 It was sure nice to see no other humans in the park. We enjoyed a lot of nature delights, loved all the birds calling & singing, saw a squirrel & muskrat in creek areas & had a lovely time together ❤️
It's proven to be #DroughtResistant, once established. One of very few #plants proven to be resistant to air pollution too. I highly recommend this for #ClimateAction#gardening. It's a gorgeous plant too.
Large #edible#perennial that needs full sun & no shade. As it's namesake, tolerant of high sodium soil & wind resistant - it depends on winds to pollinate hermaphroditic flowers. I recommend this easy to grow #plant, for coastal food gardens.
