With the #Florida Supreme Court’s decision Mon night upholding an existing #15wkAbortionBan & allowing a strict new #6wkAbortionBan to take effect in 30 days, the court has cut off nearly ALL #abortion access across the #South, where ALL other states have either implemented similar #AbortionBans or #outlawed abortion entirely since #SCOTUS overturned #RoeVWade.
The FL justices issued a separate ruling Mon that greenlighted an initiative to put abortion on the #ballot in Nov.
#Police in Plymouth Township, #Michigan are investigating whether a lighting system that was set up by a mystery person to flash when someone approached a #ballot#DropBox was an attempt to #intimidate#voters.
James Knittel, the Twsp chief of the #police, said in the weeks before #Michigan's Feb 27 presidential #primary, the mystery person installed a fake camera on a pole near the drop box & a device that was similar to a motion detector.
Knittel said it appeared the person intended for the device to flash when someone walked up to the #ballot#DropBox "as if it was taking a picture.”
PlymouthTwp posted an image Tues on FB of the person who installed the equipment at the #ballot#DropBox outside Risen Christ Lutheran Church on AnnArbor Rd, which also was an #EarlyVoting location. The post from the twp asked anyone w/info on the individual to contact the #police at (734) 354-3250.
The twp had its own cameras monitoring the drop box which captured images of the person installing the fake camera in Jan & the solar-powered lighting device in early Feb.

In a relatively brief, 13 pg opinion, accompanied by one concurrence from Justice #AmyConeyBarrett & another from the 3 #liberals on the bench, the court decided that the #Constitution leaves the question of #Trump’s disqualification to #Congress. [bullshit]
“Responsibility for enforcing Section 3 against federal officeholders & candidates rests w/Congress & not the States,” the Court ruled.
The ruling brings one of the most prominent efforts to hold #Trump accountable for his attempt to stay in #power after losing the #2020election to an end. #SCOTUS, in oral arguments & in its Monday opinion, went out of its way to dodge the question of whether that attempt — which culminated in the #Jan6 storming of #Congress — constituted an #insurrection.
In so doing, the Court set up a new rule which extends beyond #Trump: that #Congress, & not the states, is responsible for enforcing #disqualification against federal officeholders & candidates. To do that, the majority held, Congress MUST act.

A judge in Cook County, IL, on Wed ruled that §3 of the 14th Amendment, aka the "#InsurrectionClause," bars Trump from the 2024 Republican primary ballot.
The order overrules a Jan determination from the IL BOE that Trump could remain #eligible.

Cowardly #SCOTUS Justices Appear Skeptical of Arguments to Kick #Trump Off State Ballots
The #SupremeCourt heard arguments about whether TFG’s attempts to subvert the #2020election#disqualify him from again holding office. Justices across the ideological spectrum questioned several aspects of a ruling from the #Colorado Supreme Court.
Some of the justices expressed skepticism toward those claims, suggesting that Trump’s lawyer was trying to parse the letter of the law beyond reason. #law
