Daughter seriously puzzled why one would create a programming language in which "almost spaces" are used to block statements. Apparently she experienced the #python FAFO during the coding class at middle school. I have no problem with this, after all #UDoU , but she is asking about #Java (introduced during the remote coding class during the first 2 years of the pandemic) & #javascript now. And this is NOT NORMAL OR OK.
Ugh, the naturally chaotic use of #hashtags on #Mastodon can make it very frustrating to use one of them for specific topics. I want to try and find other people talking about #GenerativeAI and particularly #AIArt like #StableDiffusion, but the last two are swarmed with just people posting images. How does one make a tag that is both easy to (think of to) tag with, and signifies discussion on a topic, instead of image-posting?
It's very much why things like #Lemmy are necessary.
It's been a really long time since I've mentioned this, but #hashtags really help to get the most out of #Mastodon & the #Fediverse.
Most people think about discovery and other people being able to find their post. Did you know that you can follow hashtags that you're really interested it?
I use hashtags for archival purposes & just being able to find/remember a post later. Like everyday! 😅

Manches wie #NieWiederIstJetzt müsste doch viel öfter auftauchen. So richtig hat sich hier leider kein populärer Hashtag für die ganzen Demos entwickelt. Some tips for this, as someone who does it all the time:
Tag a Lemmy community like you would a Mastodon user to get this to work, for example @til@lemmy.world, BUT…
The first line of your toot becomes the post title, so don’t put any links or tag the community in that first line. Newer versions of Lemmy can strip out links but it still ends up looking weird. Looks best if you do something like the example below.
You can only post to one community, trying to tag multiple will post to the first one and ignore the rest
The first image attached to your toot becomes the Lemmy post image, but subsequent images get left behind
If your Mastodon instance has AUTHORIZED_FETCH turned on and the Lemmy community you’re trying to post to isn’t on 0.19 yet, it won’t work at all. In theory this should be fixed when more servers upgrade but we’ll see.

Rest of the toot goes here and will become the post body. This format will look nice on both Mastodon and Lemmy therefore not making anyone unreasonably mad at you.
Weil ich es gerade wieder überall so unleserlich sehe: Macht doch eure #Hashtags bitte #barrierefrei Geht ganz einfach: Einzelne Wörter im Hashtag mit Großbuchstaben schreiben #HashtagsBarrierefrei.
Auch als nicht sehbehinderte Person liest sich das für mich leichter. Für die Screenreader derer, die es nicht selber lesen können, gilt das noch weit mehr.
Hello new friends! Just an FYI, I swear a lot. And I post dumb stuff about whatever I happen to playing/listening to/watching, usually in a thread and usually with #hashtags.
Browsing #hashtags is quickly becoming useless. Even important ones for #MastoAdmin like #Fediverse and #Mastodon are filled with toots of random #photos and #art. Some even promoting their #porn or #gamedev#gaming project. Even random #journal or #blog posts FILLED with random irrelevant hashtags. It's quite infuriating...if you know what I mean.🤦♂️😬
