Times have changed a lot for #artists and #art appreciators. There is not much we can do in the wilderness of the internet to make it just stop.
So I definitely encourage the adoption of whichever #hashtags that indicate the art piece as not made with #AI. #NoAI or whatever it is. Which such hashtags are widely used nowadays? I wanna browse them.
Is there a better way to find friends and such or do I just need to hang around??
Yes! If your site allows (most do), follow #hashtags for topics that interest you, like #gardening or #tea, places you care about, like #Montreal or #Dakar, or groups you identify with, like #disabled.
I suggest using the website to follow hashtags, because some apps don't support this feature (but posts for a hashtag will still appear in your feed in apps once you've followed it).
I just created posts with content warnings and then put hashtags in the body of the post. It occurred to me that the hashtags may not work, or at least the post won’t show up for people who follow that hashtag. Is that correct? When I googled this, I was confused with the answers I found. Can someone please explain how this works? Thank you!
Hey everyone! 💕 Before anything else, I just want to say a big thank you for letting me join Tooters! Here’s my #Introduction ☺️ I’m Sara, 37 years young and I’m from Portugal. Right now, I’m living it up in the Netherlands. So excited to get to know all of you! 🩷
I echo that welcome. I'm from toot.io, not tooters.org, but it looks like your instance and my instance are friends. Judging from the family name, they might be cousins.
+1 #Netherlands. Haven't been there for a long time, but I have fond memories. Why did you move there from Portugal?

Do lots of searches for #hashtags.
If you have Fediverse sharing turned on in @threads, keep in mind that your posts will be limited by the requirements of the platform they're being viewed on.
For Mastodon:
Topic Tags (and included #hashtags) will display as unlinked plain text.
Quote posts are appended as "RE:" and a link to the quoted post.
Photo or mixed photo/video carousels are limited to 4 media items.
Multi-video posts will only display the first attached video.
I know that not all my interests appeal to everyone, and some would prefer I segment them into separate accounts.
But I refuse to do this because not only is it too much work, it makes me feel like a god damn content farm. And I don’t like feeling like I’m a content farm.
As crazy as this might sound, I write for myself first. If you like what I write, that’s gravy—but that’s just a bonus too.
So if you’re here just for Fediverse posts, I’m sorry to disappoint you—I talk about other stuff too.
Perhaps one of the most frustrating things about being an admin/moderator on Mastodon is manually approving tags.
I know recent Mastodon instances have an option to approve all tags, but we tried that and got a bunch of dodgy results on our instance, so it's back to manually approving tags.
Most of the time, the manual tag approval process is fine. But there are certain tags which grinds my gears - it's the "X a Y (or Z)", like:
M’yello. I am giving Mastodon another shot. So here’s another #introduction :
I am a #TwitterRefugee from The Great Migration.
I love humor, jokes and funny toots.
I love to read. Mostly horror and thriller.
I love art doodling and music.
Also, not that it defines my life, but I am just now embracing my #ADHD and how it affects my daily existence.
What happened the last time? Technical issues? Or people problems?
Anyway, hope you find a home here this time.
Feel free to share some of your doodles, if you feel comfortable.

This week's Jukebox Friday Night's theme is "Change of Seasons." Which, for me, is a rough category.
So, I'm just not going to participate. I really can't think of anything. Instead of racking my brain or stressing myself out over not finding a song, I'll pass.
I need to remind myself, sometimes, it's okay to just...not participate in the fun hashtag activities from time to time and not let it stress me out.
Which is hard cause, anxiety. But, still, a good reminder.
My Threads account has pretty laid dormant since I created it, but I think I’ve found a use for it. To help explain what the Fediverse is to users on Threads that don’t understand it.
I’m interested to see how everyone here would go about explaining what the Fediverse is?
With that initial flurry of users 18 months to two years ago, hashtags were used a lot and helped surface great people to follow. It seems that has waned and now I barely see hashtags used at all. Perhaps it's something that could be solved with AI? Like suggested "topics" to add three hashtags at the bottom or even automatically add them (with an appropriate opt-in preference at the user account level).
Aus welchem Grund wird mir ein sowohl blockierter wie auch stummgeschalteter #Account hier im #fediverse von #Mastodon in der #Timeline dennoch angezeigt?
I like #hashtags because they're a successful #folksonomy. but they've got some big flaws. ⓵ no description or summary or anything. catching a new tag can be work just to figure out what it means sometimes. ⓶ no proximity. eg: I'd like to be able to tag plus codes (OLC) and have people looking for a larger area also find my specific toot. there are lots of ways that toots and tags may be adjacent to each other.
There are many things to like about Mastodon, but one thing I have come to love, with all its blurriness, is being able to follow #hashtags. It truly is delightful.
#introduction Bonjour, I'm Marc (a.k.a. "T0K_"), a #phd student working on #privacy -preserving technologies. Outside the lab, I spend my time playing #videogames and losing #ctf challenges.
With this account, I'll promote some of my academic work . I might also engage in stupid and vibrant debates about random geeky stuffs .
I'm not entirely sure yet what I'll do with this Mastodon account, so I don't exclude the possibility of some cat pics or even some shitposting
Aha! You say you are privacy conscious, but with that photo of you in your banner, now I know what you look like! I would recognize that square head anywhere!
:) Just joking. Welcome to Mastodon!

Does anyone know if there's a way to make a list on mastodon that follows hashtags? I want to keep up with all these writing tags but not on my main feed. Suggestions welcome.
@sfwrtr I don't follow all that techspeak, but this was my sense, too. Your main feed is just a list. When we make "lists," we're creating a side feed of selected accounts off the main feed, so the only problem is that I don't have a way to put hashtags into lists, not that it's not possible. "Unimplemented feature" is the perfect term for it!
#Hashtags
This is my argument for people to capitalize the words in their hashtags. I've noticed more and more people are not capitalizing the words in their hashtags, which makes them harder to read. For example: #pleasecapitakizeyourhashtags #PleaseCapitaliseYourHashtags
Our brains recognize words partial my their shape so capitalizing them makes it easier to do that.
