*Do look at your local and federated feeds from time to time.
*If you like a post, favorite it.
*If you really like a post, boost it.
*Click on people's names and look at their profile. Browse some of their posts.
*Find someone like you, follow them.
*Find someone different from you, follow them.
This will make your home feed more interesting.
*Use Alt text whenever you upload images.
*Also, use #hashtags
*And have fun!
Hangelt euch einfach durch die #Hashtags eurer Interessen durch und wenn euch ein Post gefällt dann schaut euch das dazugehörende Profil an und folgt dem. So stellt ihr eure ganz persönliche Timeline zusammen 👍
P.S. Auf #Mastodon könnt ihr auch Hashtags folgen.
Use #hashtags liberally. They are essential to discovery here. If you use a hashtag with multiple words, please use upper and lowercase to delineate the words so people with screen readers can get them too,
Don't like someone? Don't scream at them. You can block them, either temporarily, or for longer. If they are truly abusive, report them to your local instance admin.
Contribute to the instance's cost. It's volunteer run. Chip in to help.

🗣️ I tend to post a lot 😅
🤬 …often with colorful language (but happy to edit it back out if it'll help you boost a useful post!)
🙄 I don't actually over-use emojis / #hashtags - just doing that here to be cute 🤣
💩 I love(d) #weird#twitter and occasionally make dumb shitposts 😒

My content is typically equal parts chatter about my #OSS, navelgazing/whining, and random microblogging/life observations (pets, house, tech, EVs)
I don't want to post the 375th "guide to mastodon", but it took me a moment to learn what seem to me three most important points in making the mastodon timeline useful:
#follow absolutely every account you think could potentially be interesting (since no algorithm "suggests" anything for you)
#boost the toots you find interesting (not just favourite them)
Ich heisse alle meine neuen & alten Followers willkommen! 👋
So stellst du deine eigene individuelle & persönliche Timeline zusammen 👍
👊I know bookmarks!
Bookmark a post via an icon or 3 dots flyout menu to return to something useful.
✊Follow liberally!
More follows has zero algorithm penalty here. Is no algorithm. More people I follow, more interesting my feeds get. There are good tools for management.
⭐is the❤️button but only tells the author you like their post, nobody else.
🔁Boost🔁 moves info around.
There is no algorithm, we choose & not some algorithm under corporate control. We choose by 🔁boosting🔁 posts and by using #hashtags.
If I put hashtags more at the bottom of a post it is kind to those using screen readers, partially sighted, blind etc. Fediverse has a good reputation for inclusion, we must keep it going.
#introduction I've had this account since 2017, but I have to thank the Muskrat for pushing so many people over here, whom I'd like to keep following, for me to finally also spend some time here.
I'm hoping to see lots of discussions of homotopy type theory and related matters.
