hey can #mastodon app #developers start catching emojis locally instead of making me ask the api for the image list every time I click on the emoji list button because custom emoji buttons are literally unusable on most instances I'm on otherwise, just a giant blank list of emojis
this is not exclusive to #megalodon, which you can see me tooting from. this happens on EVERY APP I USE. #sengi, #mona, #icecubesapp, any one. check it out yourself.
I need a good mastodon app for my iPad. I'm loving #Mona on the iPhone, but the iPad app isn't all that pleasing to use. Any suggestions for iPad?? #mastodon
@gbhnews@TexasObserver#Mona — very customizable and allows us to do things like QTs (which are not official yet, stupidly).
#Ivory is prettier but they’re not updating very fast. I know it’s a small team! But it’s frustrating it still doesn’t have stuff Mona has had for months.
@MonaApp Just by chance, do you plan to tweak the way how #mona displays sensitive images? I’m a huge fan of the way #ivory handles those contents (it adds a blur). It makes those pictures look less like some kind of a loading issue.
Tip with Mona for Mac and VoiceOver. You know how you open a link, are sent to Safari, you read it, come back, and use Voiceover only to find that you’re put way down the timeline somewhere? Well, when you come back to Mona, just press the Up Arrow. You’ll be put on the previous toot, but at least it won’t be like, way out there somewhere.
Mona-openai is a new Python package by mona that enables capturing logs to monitor your OpenAI API usage 🚀. That includes cool features such as:
✅ Hallucination alerts
✅ Tokens usage
✅ Behavioral drifts and anomalies
✅ LangChain support
After flip flopping between different Masto apps for months. (Some I preferred on desktop, some on tablet or mobile) Each with their own +tives and -tives. I’ve dug down into the settings of @MonaApp and got everything working on each device just how I want it. All works and syncs great. Nice one @jonny_kuang. #Mona#MonaApp
Is it possible to block an instance in #Mona? @MonaApp when I go to an account, click the three dots in the upper right I see block… select that, but no option to block the instance. Advice?
@pixelfed@vernissage@tusker I use #Mona with #Pixelfed. More for posting than browsing, but it still has become an essential part of my Pixelfed workflow.
You don't need to use the official Mastodon apps, they're not the best way to use Mastodon. The official apps only arrived last year, and they were intended as "Fisher Price My First Mastodon" things with a restricted set of features.
Third party apps have been around longer than official ones, and include way more features. You can sign in with the same account on all apps.
:android: On Android try Tusky, Fedilab, Megalodon, Tooot
:apple_inc: On iPhone/iPad, try Toot!, Ice Cubes, Ivory, Mona
To bad. I’d have been happy to pay for something I could trust, and I’m happy to point out when a dev tells you one thing about privacy in the #Apple#AppStore and something else on their website.
I’ve done it here before and I’ve got nothing to lose by pointing it out
@patrick_h_lauke@zyz@keul As a user of #Apple’s #VoiceOver screen reader, I can categorically say that #Mona works brilliantly on both iOS and Mac. In fact it’s arguably the best app out there from an #accessibility perspective. I can’t speak to the privacy and security concerns as I’ve no knowledge there, but have never been given reason to worry about it before.
I'm taking a look at #Calckey. I like what I see however there is no mobile app that yet supports it such as #Mona fully to my noledge. Also my windows client probably does not as well. This looks like a promising platform though for bloggers and probably podcasters as well. It would be cool if #Tffp were on there. Not as a podcast though as We already are on pinecast. #Calckey#Technology#Fedaverse

"noledge"
Why am I seeing this exact content, virtually word-for-word, from a human poster?
Alright folks, I’m digging Mastadon, and it sounds like the official app may not be the best one, I’m an iPhone power user and don’t really pull out my laptop often. So, with that, any recommendations for a different app? I’m hearing Metatext and Ivory are great.
@samtrap84 Metatext was great. Unfortunately, the dev had to step away due to personal issues, so it’s no longer receiving updates.
I like #Ivory a lot. My only complaint is that they are slow to release updates & still missing many of the somewhat-basic functionality (such as displaying instance-specific emoji).
My current favorite is #Mona, which is a great user experience & filled with tons of features. It’s also very customizable.
