So, I went to #appleii and asked them to talk me out of buying an apple iigs. They didn't try very hard, in fact they did the opposite. Anyway, check out my new system! It's a ROM 01 iigs with a 2mb memory card. I added a microdrive turbo from ReactiveMicro and I just got it booting into GS/OS 6.01. Next step is digging up a serial cable so I can hook up my RS232 wifi modem and see if I can't find some cool BBSs. #retrocomputing#apple2#retrocomputer#appleiigs
After getting the #Commodore#C64 and #C128 running again, the next device to repair is the #C1571.
It had #corrosion and #rust on the main board and the power supply is beyond repairworthiness. I'd replace the latter with a #meanwell RD-35 with 5 and 12 volt output.
One #diode was rusty, a few traces needed #cleaning and five #resistor looked bad. Hope the black hybrid chip is still okay.
Sadly, the lower read head seems to be broken, my work might've been in vain. #floppydrive#retrocomputer
I need some advice: I never owned an 8bit computer (the only 8bit machine I had was an Atari 2600 console), just used them at school. My dream would be to manually code some games, there's so many to choose from. Any tips or guidance? #retrocomputing #retrocomputer #vintagecomputing #vintagecomputer
Optimised version of the classic "10 PRINT" demo showing a random maze in a single line of code. Running here on a Commodore Max Machine in MAX BASIC. Because why not.
Any #Apple#MacBook enthusiasts out there? I'm not really an Apple guy, but I just found a MacBook Pro 15 in a dumpster and have determined it's the early 2008 model. I went ahead and ordered a cheapo power cord for it, and now I'm trying to determine exactly what a person can realistically do with 15 year old Apple tech. I definitely don't want it to wind up in landfill, anyway ! #RetroComputing#RetroComputer#VintageComputing#VintageComputer
Now that if figured out what I broke. What kind of fuse is this? I can't find anything that looks like this. This is from under the floppy area on a PS/2 Model L40 SX.
