We used to have a rose in a giant pot in this spot. When the pink rose outgrew the pot, we planted it in the ground.
The next year up came this rose sprout where the pot had been.
Because my husband can't stand to see a plant perish, he watered it and put this partial old tomato cage around the spot.
I told him it most likely wouldn't look like the rose that was there before and might not even bloom. But he didn't care and kept watering it.
Today, he got his bloom.
His perseverance paid off. #Rose#BloomScrolling
It stopped raining for a few minutes, so Summer and I raced outside.
The garden is loving the rain.
This is our third rose for this season. The rose looks like fine silk and has a delightful fragrance.
The other flowers are from the apple tree promising another bountiful early crop of tasty apples. I have no idea what kind of apples they are, but they are tasty, so that's what I call them. #Rose#BloomScrolling
Isolated white rose bloom on white, square background. This image is also available on black, and is part of a series of blooms on white or black, square format.
Update on the giant 16 cm #rose bloom. She opened her petals back on the 20th of April, so she's getting a little long in the bloom now and some of her petals are wrinkled, but she hasn't dropped any yet. I caught her looking her best this morning, with the dew still on her.
I also took a wider shot showing how her younger siblings are coming along. A couple are starting to open, and one shows promise of also being a giant.
Brief but very fun visit with visiting vagabond son & DIL. He photographed the rose below at a popular Sacramento rose garden.
Bought & potted petunias to add color & keep the bonsai forest happy. Pomegranate bonsai is already budding.
Big, fat bumblebee & yellow butterfly inspecting the star jasmine that bloomed overnight. (I have about 200 sq ft of jasmine…May is a heavenly-scented month.)
