You could add a visual textual watermark to your converted and exported images and photos in #NeoFinder before, but now you can also add a watermark image as well!
BBC: Airline keeps mistaking 101-year-old woman for baby. "A 101-year-old woman keeps getting mistaken for a baby because of an error with an airline's booking system. The problem occurs because American Airlines' systems apparently cannot compute that Patricia, who did not want to share her surname, was born in 1922, rather than 2022." https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c9wz7pvvjypo#rollover#programming#software
Are you thinking about switching from #Jira to #OpenProject? 🔄 Then you might want to read the story of 'Was hab' ich?', a German NGO in the #healthcare sector.
How did they migrate from Jira to OpenProject? And how well did the employees cope with this change?

« As beautiful as code can be – regardless of your definition of “beautiful” – software is always somewhat defined by its utility. On the other hand, art exists per se, without any kind of intrinsic utility rather than its mere existence, and the sensations it generates […] A piece of #software, following this reasoning, must be useful, and hence is not actually #art.
But it might as well be classified as artisanal, in the sense that it conveys utility and beauty … »
Monday morning rant goes to Google, whose web version Keep on first use suggested me "more comfortable reading by switching to dark theme"...
Listen, people, what's comfortable or not is something that is both personal and something just about everyone is quite good at determining by themselves, alright? Offer people to try, but don't ever tell people something will be more comfortable for them.
Extension Manager is the app GNOME Extensions should be. It not only lets you see already-installed extensions and disable/enable them and access their settings like GNOME Extensions does but, get this… (are you sitting down?) it even lets you browse and install new extensions. I mean, I don’t know why you’d ever want to do that but, hey, I guess this is for all the freaks out there… :)
I asked ChatGPT and another AI to generate qbsh scripts and even gave it commands like CALC and PIP to incorporate. It clearly had bash in the crunchbang. When I suggested it wasn't qbsh, it apologized, removed that line and told me it was more using correct syntax and not "bash built-ins" and hallucinated qbsh commands that don't exist like GREP. It was pretty hilarious.
When I asked for example sources for qbsh scripts, it hallucinated a github repo that doesn't exist.
I do have scripting examples in the actual repo.
But ones thing's clear, the #ChatAI is not better than traditional search engines at pointing users towards resources and otherwise reliable information for my #opensource#software projects.
Yikes, since updating my @archlinux system's packages only two hours ago, a whopping 228 new package updates have become available. Seems like python going from version 3.11.8 to 3.12.3 is the cause.
It's updates like these that make me really appreciate the work of our package maintainers. Cheers, all!
I've been trialling GitHub Copilot recently at work and, having been generally skeptical of the golden mountains promised by AI hype guys, I have to say that it gave me a modest efficiency gain in some scenarios. I would miss not having it, much like I would miss not having autocomplete.
I'll probably write up a blog for hgrsd.nl with a few thoughts of where it was helpful for me.

Leider wird Technik immer auch von Militärs missbraucht und Menschenfeindlich eingesetzt, auch wenn es unter guten Gewissen erforscht/etwickelt wird.
Yes, #NeoFinder can #catalog#thumbnails and metadata of #Apple#ProRAW photo files!
And you can add ratings, keywords, descriptions and all, too.
And convert these files to other formats.
And check every pixel in the Light Table.
And build beautiful web galleries with them…
