We were all awake early this morning. My husband has to attend his twenty millionth comp and pen appointment for the VA, which requires a three hour drive.
I can assure everyone that the VA takes this process very seriously. So seriously in fact that Veterans with multiple cancers, all considered 100% service related, and the residual medical, and mobility issues related to surgeries and treatments including the removal of major organs, can still be denied permanent disability thereby saving the average tax payer not very much.
For us, this challenge of constant appointments and denials wears us down.
Summer and I are patiently waiting so we can welcome him home, which is what the VA should have been doing since 1969.
Summer in the early morning sun brings us joy and a smile.
Good morning, Mastodon. #Summer#Dogs
My daughter says that Summer has us trained instead of the other way around.
She thinks Summer's picky eating is a ploy to keep us preparing her custom cooked meals. She likes us to be close by while she eats, too.
My daughter noted that when they dog sit, Summer eats whatever they put in her bowl.
No problem.
I can own being trained by a very smart dog who razzle dazzles me with pure love and devotion, so I naturally want to give her the best life.
My daughter says there isn't anything wrong with being trained by a dog it's just the way it is at our house.
She is probably right. #Summer#DogsOfMastodon
Summer and I spent the afternoon planting our vegetable starts. The only starts that are still growing in toilet paper rolls are marigolds. We might get those planted this weekend.
We planted four different types of lettuce radishes, spinach, and carrots in the ground today.
We are feeling pretty good about future salads.
Well, Summer isn't much of a salad dog, but she will eat the green beans growing down the row a piece. #Summer#Dogs
Summer thinks we should relax while playing our favorite game.
She said she would do all the work.
It is hard to say no when she asks nicely. #Summer#DogsOfMastodon
Summer and I watched the sunset, but it wasn't a photo friendly sky. Beautiful, it was, though, in a way that was too big for my phone camera to wrangle.
We still took our time and soaked up some peace and serenity. I count on these moments to help me reset and restore my reservoir of positive energy.
When we came back to the house, Summer wanted to know how my eye was feeling and if she could do anything to help me feel better. I told her she helps us both feel better all the time. Her sweet love and doggy hugs are the best medicine.
Good night to you, Mastodon friends. #Summer#DogsOfMastodon
Somehow, the red ball got dropped right at my feet while I was sitting outside.
The favorite blue ball finally fell apart and was retired yesterday.
Summer is feeling playful and happy and is super hard to resist.
Ball throwing commenced. #Summer#DogsOfMastodon
I just got home after shopping with family. We made it a multi generational expedition.
The youngest generation values my years of shopping experience, so we picked out good coffee and comfy pillows and learned how to pick out the perfect fruit. It was fun to help them avoid learning the hard way.
Now, back at home, Summer wants some attention and fun in the sun.
This is my kind of day it's not too hot and not too cold as long as you stay out of the wind.
Summer thinks we are happy campers, and I agree. #Summer#DogsOfMastodon
