Interview with Loretta Napoleoni on the rise of Techno-Fascism
"A small group of high-tech-savvy entrepreneurs who understand the velocity of technological innovation have harnessed this new power to establish predatory high-tech monopolies such as Uber or Amazon.
"They subvert labor laws, strip the state of its powers, gut regulation, ignore legal norms & amass personal fortunes in the hundreds of billions of dollars."
@staidwinnow@KydiaMusic@RickiTarr The Dollop did a very enlightening two-parter on Elon. If you think he’s in any way not a fascist/white supremacist, I suggest you take a listen. Technically, you might be able to call him a technofascist.
“LLMs not only fail to properly generate correct Python code when default function names are swapped, but some of them even become more confident in their incorrect predictions as the model size increases, an instance of the recently discovered phenomenon of Inverse Scaling, which runs contrary to the commonly observed trend of increasing prediction quality with increasing model size” https://arxiv.org/abs/2305.15507
TBH: lately I've been noticing how easy it is for #SiliconValley#TechnoFascist#VC’s and their incumbent #BigTech distribution partners to deceive humans 🤦🏻♂️
Srsly, thanks for all you do 🙏
Hugely appreciated.
The beauty of federated social media is that commercial apps that support it make the network stronger, not weaker.
As long as not a single app or website becomes the overwhelmingly dominant gateway to the #fediverse, wide support of the protocol will lead to the strengthening of the network.
This was also the case with Podcasts. Despite Spotify’s attempt to annex the protocol, podcasting via plain old RSS remains wildly popular.
Same with email.
Open protocols are the key to fighting privatization of public communication. I hope we’ve learned a lesson for the next time someone invents a #walledGarden.
“Flipboard becomes first app to support Bluesky, Mastodon and Pixelfed all in one place”
but much work still needed to foster, build and bake individual, family and consumer #privacy and #encryption options into present/future #Fediverse products and services.
There's no surprise here Mike. #Elmo is just doing his job as an alpha-merchant-of-chaos ‘stoking engagement’
Notion that he's failing or struggling with #Twitter as a ‘business' is laughable:
He didn’t buy it to fix it.
He bought it to wield it.
He just hired a “#Data Mine Manager” (Yacarrino)
#PersonalData is an asset class and fuel for “X’ branded #AI’s. 16 yr data trove archive alone is priceless to sovereign immune MBS.

“The trick, of course, is that Silicon Valley routinely calls theft “disruption” – and too often gets away with it. We know this move: charge ahead into lawless territory; claim the old rules don’t apply to your new tech; scream that regulation will only help China – all while you get your facts solidly on the ground. By the time we all get over the novelty of these new toys and start taking stock of the social, political and economic wreckage, the tech is already so ubiquitous that the courts and policymakers throw up their hands.
We saw it with Google’s book and art scanning. With Musk’s space colonization. With Uber’s assault on the taxi industry. With Airbnb’s attack on the rental market. With Facebook’s promiscuity with our data. Don’t ask for permission, the disruptors like to say, ask for forgiveness. (And lubricate the asks with generous campaign contributions.)”
“#AI machines aren’t ‘hallucinating’. But their makers are”
