"Counterpoint has forecast global shipments of generative AI-enabled (GenAI) smartphones to reach more than 100 million units this year, up from about 47 million in 2023, and rapidly expand to 552 million by 2027."

What is a GenAI phone?

"GenAI handsets, a subset of AI smartphones, use generative AI technology to create original content, rather than just provide preprogrammed responses or perform predefined tasks."

Can someone explain? Also what is an AI smartphone?

More and more I'm coming around to the idea that there are going to be (at least) two internets: one of massive, unstoppable corpos and the strategy they put forward, ceaselessly rent-seeking and providing you nothing but ads in myriad forms.

And another internet of small businesses, coops, and independent creators who subsist in a parallel economy. The . This is not a new idea, but the division is becoming unavoidably stark.

Oh, and the blockchain has no point in the smallweb. That's a feature.

Could our Universe be a simulation? How would we even tell?

Simulations all the way down—the philosophical debate on the nature of our Universe.

— My shorter answer: nope.

— My longer answer: I can't disprove the simulation hypothesis, BUT if we're living in a sim it's almost certainly not simulating US:

One of you clever people on here recently observed correctly that Words With Friends contains an absolutely elite collection of "dark patterns" - manipulative, deceptive UI/UX designs. I've realized I see it now as almost nothing but that dark pattern maze, and now I'm wondering if anyone has done a meta game about defeating dark patterns, where there's a basic game wrapped in layers of this nonsense, but the real game is scored on your ability to avoid and efficiently outmaneuver the evil UI

llvm-15-tools llvm-16 llvm-16-dev llvm-16-linker-tools llvm-16-runtime llvm-16-tools

IME the pkg dependencies in current Ubuntu are janked such that eg apt removing Thunderbird can leave vital pkgs marked for autoremove
