I'm getting an HTTP/429 error when trying to access the Wayback Machine (Internet Archive) over a VPN. For context, it's worth noting that the Wayback Machine has a history of not respecting the robots.txt standard, which can lead to a higher server load. But, now, they are blocking VPN and data center ranges. Lmao. Oh, this is such irony.

Today Adobe announced its annual MAX conference would take place in Florida. A US state the NAACP has declared unsafe for Black travelers. 500 employees signed an internal letter, condemning the decision. Some PR lady responded, with a blurb saying they're "(giving money to) local LGBTQIA groups" in recognition of Florida's "challenges." One of the most explicity anti-Black actions I've seen an unrepentant tech industry do, in recent years.

@nixCraft Nothing... everything is already installed... or a website offers a free version... I'm interested in Photoshop Type Programs and My Chromebook is Plenty... I also BLOG, EMAIL and Post on Social Media... and Make Youtube videos of Me singing and Playing the guitar... all those functions come standard...

@crooksandliars Mike Johnson already added a POISON PILL to the Money for Israel Bill. Making cheating on your taxes easier is a strange addition... Obviously the people that bribe the republican party members want to DEFUND THE IRS so the can commit more crimes... so yes, it's very likely that Mike will add UNPOPULAR additions to his bills...

There's lots of noise in SF about homeless people "refusing shelter" and "They want to live in tents!" And that we should force them to accept the shelter against their own will, "for their own good!" Many SF folks rationalize their desire to not see homeless people, by convincing ourselves that refusing shelter is an irrational behaviour, and that we know better.

We don't consider the fact that people might be refusing shelter when that shelter is worse than a tent.

@mekkaokereke The MAIN Reason San Francisco has a Homeless population is the MILD CLIMATE. NO Freezing to death in the winter here... Try Sleeping outdoors in Boston or NYC... You would die... Eureka California also has a large homeless population because It's a very valid lifestyle to set up a tent in the forest...

People have been trying to use Threads to follow the news about the war in Israel, and Meta is still wholesale blocking searches on dozens of words, downranking journalism, and does not seem to want news on its platform at all

If you ever need a reminder of how the Democrats are the party of the rule of the law and the Republicans are the party cowed by a mob boss, during the “impeachment inquiry” hearing in the House, the panel was asked to raise their hands if they believe that both Hunter and Trump should be held accountable if they are found guilty. The Democrats all raised their hands. None of the Republicans did.

WE SHOULD convert empty offices into Low Cost Housing... or any type of housing.

    Saying "I don't like political violence, whether it comes from the left or the right" in regards to US politics is not an enlightened statement. It's anti-Black. Because at its core is the extreme reluctance to even acknowledge that almost all US political violence is on one side: the fascist side trying to maintain minority rule.

    I'm not even talking about the appropriateness of violence for self-defense. I'm talking about the fact that Black folk and US progressives don't violently coup.🤷🏿‍♂️
