    Der hat, denke ich, mehr Power als mein 14 Jahre alter Aldi-Laptop.

    Streaming ist darauf überhaupt kein Problem. Läuft absolut flüssig in FF oder Chrome-Derivaten. Also sollte der Toshi erst recht kein Problem sein.

    OS ist bei mir Kubuntu - sehr benutzerfreundlich.

    Wenn du die gesamte Festplatte für Linux hernehmen willst, einfach den Installer machen lassen.

    Wartungsfrei sind die meisten Distros. Natürlich wollen die auch ihre Updates, aber wenn die Nachricht kommt, "es gibt Aktualisierungen", einfach auf "alle" und Root-Passwort eingeben, sonst läuft alles von alleine.

    Empfehlungen für einfach: PopOS, Kubuntu, Mint alles prima.

    Linux gibt es eben in allen Geschmacksrichtungen (Distributionen).

    Kubuntu ist eine davon.

    Die meisten Distributionen kommen mit ziemlich kompletter Softwareausstattung (LibreOffice, Firefox, Gimp usw.) und einzelne Anwendungen nachzuinstallieren ist total simpel aus dem jeweiligen App-Store. Klick, Passwort, fertig.

    Ich würde mir aber immer die aktuellste Version eines Betriebssystems runterladen, und immer die LTS (Long Term Support).

    ich bin beeindruckt, wie viel Eifer am Werk ist, wenn es gilt das Fediverse, in erster Linie Mastodon, als unfertig abzuwerten, gleichzeitig aber
    eine Betaversion als "spannende Alternative" zu sehen.
    Morgen lesen wir dann wieder in den Gazetten, dass die Einflussnahme von Trollfabriken in sozialen Medien den gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt gefährde.

    Caren Miosga war wirklich eine prima Moderatorin.

    Ich gucke zwar fast nie lineares Fernsehen, aber sie spricht einfach wunderschön, stellt gute Fragen und hat dieses Quentchen an Humor.

    It's a gloomy rainy day, perfect for a pot of tea and a spooky movie or two!

    Give me your suggestions for a good spooky movie! I'm not a big fan of torture porn or excessive gore (unless it's so over the top it's silly), but otherwise I like mysteries, thrillers, haunting, monsters, B movies, aliens, black and whites, anything really.

    It's always great to offer homeless people assistance.

    However: They usually know where there is a shelter, but have good reasons not to go there.

    There is only one way to end a person's homelessness: Give them a flat, no questions asked.
    Shelters are necessary, and in high demand - they are usually quite overcrowded, but they're not a solution, just a palliative measure.

    Finland has this amazing policy "housing first" and is the only European country where

    homelessness is decreasing year after year.

    This concept was incredibly successful. 80% of the people given flats managed to maintain them long term, and those who don't, can always re-enter the program.

    It has also been cost-effective for the state. Shelters and short term lets are actually expensive and so are the additional health costs and needed support for a person living rough.

    Unfortunately, I don't see anything like that happen, neither in Germany nor here in Switzerland and even less in the UK.

    Our cultures are too much based on the idea that you have to prove yourself "worthy" to be given anything, even the most basic essentials of life, when in reality the only thing that matters is, that you are a breathing and living human being.

    is always great, for the person, who receives it and also for the person giving. It nourishes our souls (with that I mean our inner self, not some esoteric/religious bullshit), which is almost as important as the food we eat.

    On the other hand: True solutions depends on politics, not on individual actions.

    I strongly advocate for the UNESCO declaring the Night Sky world cultural and natural heritage.

    Light pollution and satellites screw up astronomy, our internal click, insect and wildlife and alienate us from our relationship with its beauty.
