Feels like a good week to tell every non-binary person in the how amazing you are, and remind everyone here that non-binary identities are stunning, beautiful, individual, deep and go so far beyond the 'enby' or 'NB' stereotypes you may not believe unless you're talking with them to understand ... :heart_nb:

Well you're adored, amazing, you've taught me over the years and are still teaching me new things about gender ... including off-grid outside the binary. 2 months ago, 6mg estradiol hemihydrate daily (sublingual)

  • Serum oestradiol (E): 1,500 pmol/L
  • Serum testosterone (T): 0.5 nmol/L

Today, after 2 weeks on Estrogel, 8 x 1.25mg pumps daily (to forearms)

  • Serum oestradiol (E): 2,900 pmol/L 😮
  • Serum testosterone (T): 0.7 nmol/L

T levels are perfect

E levels seem seriously high for the dosages - maybe I have some weird natural affinity for processing estrogen? 😉 ... but even me, I'm going to have to simply agree when my GP says we need to cut the dose down a bit

Not showing my age or anything, but as a kid a Kodak Carousel 600 was what we meant by 'multimedia' tech ... am I alone? Except the word multimedia didn't exist 'back in the day' of course, so this was the equivalent of VR goggles

Interesting, better than months of dogwhistles may have suggested, let's watch closely. Keegan is a more moderate conservative than Badenoch, and civil service lawyers will have been involved. This article suggests some sanity prevailing & an intra-factional Tory spat with the far right, transphobic types quoted like evangelical Miriam Cates MP, the (Un)Safe Schools Alliance

Gender Dysphoria: I deliberately stopped using this term or dysphoric (whenever possible) a while back. I have been incredibly uneasy as a trans woman how loaded the term still is with medical diagnosis and mental health connotations. It is imho:

  • a term of our oppression
  • a phrase of 'symbolic violence' (as Judith Butler might say)
  • a weak dilution of 'gender identity disorder'

I do not deny the experience, I deny the medicalisation, weaponisation and causes

IF in rejecting this term at every level I lose my ability to get a UK Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC), then so be it.

No compromise

I keep my pride, my full trans agency and that - for me - is far more priceless :butterfly_trans:

As a follow-up on something @Elodie_lyra tooted, I logged an FOI on why the UK Land Registry would ask for a GRC on gender change, but won't accept a UK Passport (as would seem logical)

** I just got a reply back saying HMLR is now reviewing this:**

FOI QUESTION:
"... the processes are duplicated:
a. One needs the same requirements for name change ie a UK Deed Poll, or a Statutory Declaration
b. Changing Gender on a UK Passport has exactly the same process as the Land Registry and can be done simply via a GP/doctor letter

REPLY:
"Our searches have not revealed any recorded information held in relation to why a UK Passport is not included as accepted evidence of change of gender, however, HMLR is in the process of reviewing the Change of gender (CNG) form. This will include a review of the current evidence options required in panel 2 of the form, and consideration will be given to whether this can be extended to include a valid UK Passport"

Me... I adore black. It's my goto color all winter. Goes with the hair and let's say I'm not exactly a blonde type in any way shape or form. The glasses are Tom Ford "face furniture" which rock with a strong look. There's a decent Boux push-in bra involved too. Gotta say this to keep it authentic (!) Stuff like this "is making the best of myself" no more no less

Feeling pretty decent. Coffee and estradiol right? Omg my insane E-levels were a shock yesterday, thanks to many lovely folk who chipped in there. Felt like a community "pro endo team"! ❤️

Don't underestimate older trans women nor - please - assume we're all recent egg-cracks as it's just not true. If you want to understand how that works for us, we're all individual and you'd need to ask 1-2-1. But don't ever stereotype

  • Read up on changing name and gender on my UK driving licence (form D1)
  • Find I can't do it online so :ms_swearing: and go out and
  • Get photocopies of UK Deed Poll made
  • Get ID photos taken. Pay
  • Omg, decide they were actually so bad :ms_swearing:
  • Chuck photos in the nearest litter bin 🗑️
  • Buy Postal Order (it's like a paper check , for non UK peeps)
  • Swear at UK Govt for not taking online driving licence payments in 2023 :ms_swearing:
  • More ID photos taken at another place. Bit better this time, praise the lord!! 🙏
  • Fill in form D1, making note to change my Gender as there is no actual field in it because ofc trans people aren't properly handled (sigh)
  • Eat curry :ms_curry_rice: to recover (a Chicken Bhuna)

Not so much as reality is more like ? :flag_transgender:

I'm always careful not to view the in terms of increasing User Count due to bots and dormant/lifeboat accounts but FediDB looks interesting as it shows better data points like MAU (monthly active users) and activity (post count)

I cannot say it enough. As trans it's what we seek, even if we cannot always articulate it or are working on 'realising' it. Whatever you see is just an inner me coming out. Unpack yourself fifty times, challenge yourself, unpack again twenty times (we'll that's my style! 😂).

Pretty? "whatever". Boobs? "whatever, if you want then sure". Dysphoria? Not a mental condition, a result of trauma, of societal repression from the day you are born ... Nose job? "yeah that'd be nice thanks!!"

Feel nice and comfortable as and in yourself? "Yes, now that's the real deal, then you're getting there ..."
