I heard somewhere that during the victorian age, people, with the invention of radio and television yet to occur, used to sit down in the evenings and read books to keep themselves occupied. Now, I don't know if it's true or not but I'm finding the concept something nice to do even in the 21st century. Can be awfully cosy to do.

Any other people wondering if its realistic to hold a job from like 9-5 and still have enough free time to just rest and recuperate afterwards? I'm just not sure I can afford to be a "constantly busy with work and life" person without severely burning out.

Happy 30th anniversary ! Originally released on this day in 1993. Surely one of the games that made the PC platform what it is today and still remains a cracking First person shooter to this day.

@TechConnectify Wondering with Christmas lights whether these are more your thing? All the LEDS are white but the caps are blue, red, green and yellow as needed. Found them at The Range retailer in the UK. Definitely feels more in line with incandescent bulbs of old but less traditional fairy lights in this case though I like the styling here.

@cstross Some UK phone booths are already given to the community afaik. Some are used to store defibrillators and some are libraries.

@cstross Heh, missed that. I think BT want to get rid of these generally mind, so offloading them to the community to maintain instead seems cynical enough from a certain angle I suppose.

@cstross Hell, maybe I could see if I could buy a working phone from one at some point, see if I could get it working on the mobile network and use it as an alternative for home use only instead of giving out my mobile number.

@TechConnectify Late but I actually quite like the idea for me for a bedside bulb since I keep a small lamp on and have to get up to turn it off to go sleep. Now with my current medication to help me sleep this can be difficult (Its hard to even find the energy to charge a phone with the cable next to the bed even) so it sounds perfect for me. Definitely shows its more of a niche product than anything though. Don't seem to be sold in the UK mind.

@lexx3000 @actuallyautistic I'm not quite free of depression but learning to let go of whatever ableist bile people throw at you (And probably don't even care about you) helps a lot. Yes I shouldn't have to do this but its helped a lot.

@dosnostalgic Very true, just seems a hard sell given the home computers on sale at the time. I suppose there had to be a breakthrough moment when those systems started to become serious competitors to Commodore and such.

Re: news about Tesla selling charging hardware to BP

Now THAT is an angle that completely escaped me. I figured they'd only ever want to make charging hardware for their own network, but now that we are careening towards their plug standard, it makes sense for non-exclusive networks to buy their hardware.

And to be honest, this is a good thing because Tesla's charging hardware actually works.

@TechConnectify I assume that is the oil company because if so, I wonder if its a quiet sign they know the writing is on the wall for oil? 1 in 5 cars sold now are apparently electric and it seems it might only be up from here on out.

Lobbying by the rich has really got to be looked at. It's hugely damaging not just for people like myself but for democracy. Likewise here in the UK it seems only a few bigots here started going after trans people that we got a manufactured anti trans moral panic.
