Film obsessive from Scotland, now living in England.
Every day a review appears here - http://foritismansnumber.blogspot.com/ - and I always share the links here. There's also a podcast to pimp (https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/raiders-of-the-podcast/id1250657197), AND a weekly YouTube video.
I also LOVE chatting films, especially horror, and will keep favouriting and boosting messages that I think more people will enjoy finding.

The next chance for James Gunn to make a baller move is to cast the kid from Brightburn as the new Superman.

I can already feel the heat generated from that internet rage mwuahuahuauhauhauhaaa

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - 2hr 24 mins.
Mary Poppins - 2hr 19 mins.
Pete's Dragon - 2 hr 9 mins.
Fantasia - 2 hr.
The Wizard Of Oz - 1hr 52 mins.

With all the discussion about excessive runtimes lately, a trend I have also expressed my opinion on, a number of times, it's interesting to remember that some of the beloved children's classics weren't chopped down to fit into a more child-friendly runtime. It all depends on people having faith in material that deserves it.

Happy Saturday.
Scrolling around I saw these two in separate posts and I am delighted.
Fuck ChatGPT, AI, and especially DALL-E & Midjourney.

@stina_marie @horror - agreed. Not sure how people don't realise that those rushing to engage with it, and create bastardised content with it, are just going to ultimately help create the nightmare scenario of truth and facts then being so far outweighed by fictions and half-truths that the internet becomes useless as the helpful tool it should be.

Quick reminder, if you are discussing a movie on a podcast, or in writing (or anywhere), then using the phrase “spoilers, I guess, but it’s terrible anyway so nobody should care” just shows that you assume everyone else in the world should share your taste in movies. And that is really inconsiderate and incorrect.

Let's not forget that Ian Blackford (SNP) was suspended for accusing Johnson of "wilfully misleading parliament" about the parties held at Downing Street during Covid-19 restrictions and refusing Speaker's request to withdraw his comment by responding "It's not my fault if the prime minister can't be trusted to tell the truth".

Let's hope that suspension is rescinded.

@bullivant - didn't the same thing happen to Dawn Butler? Certainly similar, I recall her getting in more trouble for calling Boris out for his lies than anything that happened to Boris . . . for his lies.

@thudfactor - not that they're all automatically great, but Friedkin has spent much of his career delivering films aimed squarely at adults. Doing this to his work feels unnecessary and extra wrongheaded IMO.

In case some people didn't hear the news, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is absolutely incredible, unbelievably maybe even a bit better than the first movie, and a contender for film of the year.

Just noticed The Whale is now on Prime Video here in the UK.

It's not good, but see it for yourself if you don't believe me.

Going to start encouraging people to use the phrase "seize the fish" and it will be a dual-layered joke when I refer to it as a carp idiom.

- Peaceful protesters are being arrested in right now. The law has been changed this week to allow it. Remember this when you want to protest your Brexit not panning out, or your fear of immigration - because you've just lost those rights, too.

SaltiredPopcorn,
@SaltiredPopcorn@bbq.snoot.com avatar

@aral @thetiredhorizon - yep, any protest in line with the government’s habit of basing policies on what they daren’t always say aloud should be fine.

Double standards #1 - many of the people queuing up to tug their forelock for the coronation are the same ones who will claim they voted for Brexit to get away from the rule of unelected leaders.

Double standards #2 - the same people camping out to watch a rich twat go by in a golden carriage would just as quickly watch protesters in the news and ask "don't any of them have jobs?"

All I knew about this movie was:
-at some point there was a scene not for the emetophobic
-it's a long movie
I was not prepared for how biting & hilarious it was. I laughed, loudly, many times during it. It wasn't perfect, but it was damn entertaining for being 2.5 hrs long.

Dear businesses - I do NOT want to complete a survey every time I have the briefest interaction with one of your staff. If I am made miserable by that person then I will inform someone. Otherwise, just assume all went well!

Do you have a website link on your profile or in your posts? Have you made sure it is clickable?

You have to have https:// at the beginning of a web link for it to be clickable on here. Without this, people cannot click on the link.

Without https://

With https://example.com/example.com>

(BONUS TIP: Advanced users might like to know that Mastodon supports many kinds of link including https://, http://, gemini://, dat://, dweb://, gopher://, ipfs:// and ssb://)

@feditips - THAT explains why my blog wouldn't show as a verified link. It was working, but only http when I should have placed the link in the https format. Thank you.
