Then when I left the state for several weeks and kept doing my job, I was told my alloted work hours for the next fiscal year would be reduced by the amount of time I had spent out of state because “You were on vacation and we don’t pay for that.” They are no longer allowed to employ me.

I’m old enough to remember when reporters investigated a story, comfirmed its reality with three sources, and then reported on it. This amplifying whatever comes across social media without investigating first is getting tiresome.

Some on Mastodon just love to take a tiny sliver of good news and turn it into doom or cheap shots.

I’m done w/ people who do that.

I’m fine with genuine RATIONAL POLITE disagreements or criticism. I have to point that out since I’ve been accused of/blocked for intolerance of diff opinions👈🏼which I’ve always welcomed

This is about mudslinging, labels, name-calling, misinfo, & disdain for scarce positives & replying w something designed to provoke &/or kneejerk-negate welcome news. Kthxbye.

@GottaLaff This cry of “foul,” my opinions are being blocked remind me of politicians and pundits who are “silenced” for sharing lies as though they are truth. I want to say, “Oh, honey, it’s not your opinions that are being blocked. It’s your lies, your misdirections, and your bullying.”

@mastodonmigration I love it when I come across a site that says, “Don’t use my data,” vs U.S. sites which say “Click here to choose the data we can collect,” and after clicking, the user must turn off half a dozen options and typically cannot de-select something called “essential” without any explanation as to what essential is.

@docpop My go to is: Ad free. Community funded. No algorithms. Open source software. Over 20,000 servers. Sometimes managed by one person, sometimes by many. Each has its own rules. Some have themes like art, politics, literature. Some have a few users, some have hundreds of thousands. Close to 14M users total. All can be connected via the fediverse. Some have created functionality that allows connections to other platforms, like Threads, or that is similar to other platforms, like Youtube.

At our house, birds of several species, Robins, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Mourning Doves, and Wrens, form a line to take their turn in the bird bath. They don’t just stand off to the side and politely wait for their turn, they form a line and move forward as each bird in front of them does.

This feels horrible. Yet wonderful all at the same time. I worked with a chatbot to solve what I believe was a rather nuanced software problem. It understood everything and had the situation resolved within minutes.

Many have quoted Mathew 21: 12-13: “Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. And He said to them, “It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of thieves. '” As though this act has tipped Trump into a place of transgression that his other actions did not.
