It adds up to profound questions over what it means to be a young Jew in America in 2024. For some, the overriding feeling is one of fear and pain. Others have joined with the protesters, seeing the opposition to the war in Gaza as an opportunity to live out Jewish values taught growing up about justice and the value of human life. And many others are conflicted, seeing nuance when it feels like so many around them see black and white.

This is why it feels like it’s getting harder to live on our wages. This was done on purpose by big business. The Democratic Party wants to fix this. The Republican Party created this situation and wants to block all efforts to fix it.

@Teri_Kanefield Thanks for your perspective on this. As someone else said, I do think we need to read the news from a number of outlets. As you said, the truth should be available in more than one place. We can see that by checking more than one source. Local and international papers can provide a lot of detail and perspective. Also, it’s easier to notice subtle bias about HOW the news is reported and what is selected as newsworthy.

I don’t really understood why the DSA or any organization alleging to be on the left would want to come off as supporting terrorist attacks on and kidnapping of civilians including women, children, and elderly people.

Some of us have family and friends who are like family caught up in this violence turned war. Bigotry and callousness, indeed.

Of course I read it. My point is that, even when we make it very clear that terrorism is unacceptable (as AOC did), any advocacy for Palestinians is attacked as antisemitism.

I'm going to edit my earlier reply to make that more clear.

Today is Indigenous People’s Day in the U.S. I highly recommend the series Reservation Dogs.

It’s the first series to feature all indigenous writers and directors, along with an almost entirely indigenous North American cast and production team.

Everything about it is outstanding. The writing, the characters, the acting…everything.

    Trump plays to his followers. Making claims against judges, prosecutors, the DOJ, the FBI etc. is meant to be seen as "fighting back." And any accusation made by him is circulated by the propaganda network as if it's established fact.

    I have a question about something else. Judge Chutkan set a March 2024 date for Trumps case and I keep seeing comments saying that there are 12 million documents and the defense can't possible review it all in that time. Others say it's digitized and sortable and should be easy to handle. What is true?
