Nope.

That is NOT A THING.

Have him go through two+ years of training with a rabbi, change his entire life, diet, and social circle, and then have his mikveh and his bet dein, and then... maybe.

Not that we would even want him -- even though we welcome converts as one of our own.

I’m gonna go ahead and cross the line into the uncomfortable territory that they are actually killing people, and disabling them on purpose. For example Monica here recommends getting more pathogens to to hone or train your immune system to be able to fight them off even better. A subtle way of assuring people that the lockdowns caused this problem, not that other thing. To speed things up here’s a list of some pathogens you can all go out and get repeatedly to train your own immune system-/sarc

Ebola, Marburg, Rift Valley fever, Plague, Monkeypox, Lassa Fever, SARS, Tularaemia, MERS-CoV, Nipah, Legionellosis, Borreliosis, Melioidosis, etc) is a permanent threat to the health of populations around the world and a major challenge to global health security. https://www.who.int > groups > ed... @Brad Her BS is straight up eugenics. I'm gonna say it. I'm not uncomfortable saying it.

She has no clue how the human immune system works. None.

People and sites who write and publish these sorts of things need to be deplatformed for complicity in murdering and disabling millions.

Which will never happen bc MuH InTeRnEtS FrEeDuMs. 🤮

Now I'm gonna go stomp back off into my Novid cave and grumble about other things.

Cool roofs as a disaster-resistance measure in extreme heat events.

"Regardless of the amount of energy savings, cool roofs and walls can increase the "hours of safety" provided by a home during extreme heat events... Extreme heat is the deadliest of all natural disasters and is predicted to increase in intensity and frequency. The benefit of cool roofs and walls to non-air-conditioned homes is clear (the interior of the home stays cooler and thus safer)... Cool roofs and walls can ease the strain on the system and, if A/C is lost, can improve the occupants’ ability to survive a heat wave."

https://basc.pnnl.gov/resource-guides/cool-roofs-and-walls-reduce-heat-gain#edit-group-description

igure 2. The standard asphalt shingle roof on this Florida home readily absorbs solar energy, allowing it to heat up to 140°F (60°C) as shown in the thermal image on the right (Courtesy of FSEC).
Regardless of the amount of energy savings, cool roofs and walls can increase the "hours of safety" provided by a home during extreme heat events (Kaiyu et al. 2021). Extreme heat is the deadliest of all natural disasters and is predicted to increase in intensity and frequency. The benefit of cool roofs and walls to non-air-conditioned homes is clear (the interior of the home stays cooler and thus safer), but for air-conditioned homes the benefit is less obvious. Extreme heat taxes the electricity grid, increasing the likelihood of a power outage and loss of A/C. Extreme heat also makes A/C systems work harder, making failure more likely. Cool roofs and walls can ease the strain on the system and, if A/C is lost, can improve the occupants’ ability to survive a heat wave. They serve as a legitimate passive disaster-resistance measure that can provide energy savings year after year.

@ai6yr @Jennifer Also curious how you did this/with what materials. I've never actually been in my attic because it's almost impossible to get up there (it requires balancing a ladder on narrow concrete basement stairs and crawling upwards through an access panel... 😳) But I've got a boiler suit and masks and gloves and I'm willing to try if it means saving energy.

Laws. We are so f*cked.

"Part of the puzzle is that it is no longer possible to be confident about who has and who has not contracted COVID, with evidence suggesting it has spread to an overwhelming majority of the population. That makes it difficult to know what conditions can be firmly tied to COVID inflammation and which would have emerged regardless, Bennett says."

One thing I notice about being sick or exhausted, say after a night of poor sleep, is that my anxiety level trying to usher son through his getting ready is far less. I just don’t have the energy to get to that place. A place I didn’t really want to be.

Is there a way to avoid getting to that anxious place when I have the energy, I wonder… 🤔

@actuallyautistic

arisummerland,
@arisummerland@mstdn.social avatar

@btaroli @actuallyautistic Hmmm, this is an interesting idea. I got maybe 4 hours of sleep (vs 6 or 8) last night. Hoping I am too tired to be anxious about rearranging my house but well enough just to do it without overthinking it! Down to the wire today.

I think a lot about all the people sick or dead from covid complications whose families and docs will never say that

arisummerland,
@arisummerland@mstdn.social avatar

@seachanger I was fairly happy staying home, not happy not working, of course, happy to help my dad stay safe, and enjoyed things like going out on my porch at 8 PM to howl so neighbors would know that I was still alive. But the pandemic took my marriage and my livelihood and my dad. And now nobody gives a hoot about anybody else. I miss the solidarity of the first few weeks and the unemployment support. I don't know when we slipped into this alternate "let 'er rip" land. ☹️😖

arisummerland,
@arisummerland@mstdn.social avatar

@seachanger It really is! I remember planning a very calm, kind, outdoor gathering with some friends to try to ease people back into gathering safely. We were going to have music and nature walks and Reiki and chair massage and have a really nice time together. But everyone else just went hellbent for leather back into manic activities and vacations and nobody had time to come do a sweet little day retreat with us. That's when I knew everyone else had lost their minds.

@Dynamicallydisabled @autisticadvocacy Thank you for this thread! I hadn't known the term "expensive speech" before this but it resonates with me, as does intermittent.

I have an AAC on my phone, shortcuts I have created that produce text if I am ever in a situation where it's so loud I can't say what I need/want, and I did all 150 phrases for the iPhone accessibility feature that says things in a close approximation to my own voice. All very helpful!

Blue on the Line

Some blue grossbeaks (Passerina caerulea) were around last spring, I do hope that they return this year. I lived right at the edge of their breeding and migration zones.

"A large, vibrantly blue bunting with an enormous silver bill and chestnut wing bars, the male Blue Grosbeak sings a rich, warbling song from trees and roadside wires. He and his cinnamon-colored mate often raise two broods of nestlings in a single breeding season. A bird of shrubby habitats, these richly colored birds can be hard to spot unless you hear them singing first. They are widespread but not abundant across the southern U.S. and are expanding their range." - allaboutbirds.org

@arisummerland@mstdn.social avatar

@Swede1952 Oooh, so pretty! I'll have to look up their range.

arisummerland,
@arisummerland@mstdn.social avatar

@Swede1952 it looks like we are in the uncommon breeding range, but with the hardiness zones changing for plants, and flamingoes sighted in Wisconsin, perhaps we will get some accidentals... 🤞

    @dave I started posting short videos on my Insta last year shaming fellow healthcare-adjacent workers for not masking and filtering air.

    If you work ANY JOB in healthcare, and you are not wearing an N95 mask, you are being ACTIVELY malfeasant.

    Even those of us adjacent to allopathic care learn our responsibility to beneficence and non-malfeasance.

    Plainly: uphold higher ethical and hygiene standards than everyone else so EVERYONE is safer in your care.

    We have not lost power, at least. I guess the squirrel spit must be frozen to the tinfoil.

    I'm exhausted. The entirety of this cold snap is annoying and debilitating, but it really could be much worse.

    It is a weight off my shoulders to have the dang birds indoors, even if cleanup later in the week is going to suck.

    The burnout experience, before I knew I was Autistic and expected myself to be able to function like a neurotypical:

    Why the hell am I so tired all the time?!
    I get 8 solid hours of sleep!
    Maybe I'm eating too much sugar.
    Maybe I'm not eating enough.
    Maybe I'm eating too many processed foods.
    Maybe I'm not eating enough protein.
    Maybe I'm not drinking enough water.
    Maybe I'm not getting enough physical activity.
    Maybe I'm drinking too much caffeine.
    Maybe I've got mono.
    Maybe my body is fighting off a mild infection.

    Thoughts that literally never crossed my mind:

    Maybe I've had too many demands on my time and energy.
    Maybe my senses have been overloaded.
    Maybe I'm not giving my brain enough rest (which is different than sleep)
    Maybe I need to do LESS.
    Maybe I need a lot more alone time.

    It's so hard to understand why we feel a certain way when we're trying to understand ourselves as a "normal" person.
