@mhoye@cassidy As i was reading this, i was thinking about the security breaches that have occurred at other large companies, and wondered - Has Google’s advertising database ever had a security breach? #security
@halva@cassidy Perhaps some engineer at google (who values the open web) will update the default setting in chrome dev tools to throttle connections to 3G speeds. That would have quite an impact.
Up until 4 years ago or something #Vim (or #GVim) was my code editor of choice. But when having to work with #PHP#WordPress I preferred #VSCode, which has become my main editor.
With Vim I could never get IntelliSense to work properly so I dropped that.
Currently want to look into working with (Mac)Vim again. But my #vimfiles are sorely outdated (8-12 years or so!). Time for a fresh start. Used to copy plugin's etc. to my vimfiles, but is there a better way these days to also stay up-to-date?
@Htbaa For PHP development, the best option is PhpStorm by JetBrains, with the ideavim plugin to get Vim bindings. This pairing alone is great, but step debugging with XDebug takes things to another level.
Linux needs an organization - let’s call it
Linux Mobile Foundation (LinMoFo) - to concentrate and unite efforts for building a single non-google Linux platform. Businesses and application developers need a single target platform — which will be much easier to hit. Linux mobile will already be competing for resources against iphone and android. So gnome, kde, and other parties need to work together
@outofcontrol oh i see. in that case, i’d contact the mainttainer, and offer to write a PR. If you don’t hear back, fork their project and update your composer json with your forked version
i’m thinking about reviving NYPHP. Live in NYC (or nearby), and Interested in attending?
What PHP companiess have NYC offices? Do you know of some? Do you work at one? It would be great to have companies to sponsor, and be part of the community
@josh@heiglandreas that’s great Josh! One of the hardest issues is getting a venue to hold the meetups. Is that something you could help with? for say 20-30 people? i’m just guessing. i’m only just starting this project
The Moonlander is a real workout for my hands, which are in the smaller side. My right ring and pinky are feeling t. I’m still not a fast typist, but i think I’m becoming a better one. This split columar layout is forcing me to learn the right way. If I had just a few more keys, it’d be perfect.
I can’t help but think “Where was Granmar Girl when I was in school?” I was a math and science guy in school. So I didn’t enjoy my English classes at the time. As I follow along with @grammargirl she makes learning about the English language fun.
Adfree Cities, an advocacy group in the UK successfully got an ad for the Toyota Hilux SUV that shows drivers ripping through sensitive natural areas and cities taken off the airwaves and streets.
We talked with two members of the organization about how they’re tackling the auto industry’s most egregious marketing campaigns.
@TheWarOnCars How about classifying SUV as military vehicles, to make them unavailable to most people. Is that a thing? Most people just don’t need a vehicle that large.
I'm continuously surprised by how few of my co-workers at a PHP company are active in the larger PHP community (meetups, open source development, blogs, ...).
@sven what if you started A meetup at your company. It could start as a knowledge share.
After a few meetings, invite developers from a few nearby companies to attend and present. Don’t call it a meetup until someone mentions making the knowledge share public. 😄
40 lbs down from July, from ~43% body fat to 38. Still have a lot of work to do, but this is the best shape I've been in during my entire adult life. I don't have a great photo from before because after years of hating how I looked in photos I just stopped taking them.
I track everything I eat, eat a high protein plant based diet, get 10k steps a day, go walking running or cycling 5+ times a week, and do strength training 3x each week.
We had a bug yesterday where a class from the elastic APM extension was not found, but only sporadically for a few requests, then it was working again.
Anyone has an Idea what could have caused this? currently we think it might be an opcache related issue.
