Ugh, having issues with my Zigbee network after some updates. Not sure if issues with Zigbee2mqtt or issues with the coordinator.

Since ZHA has had such big advancements recently, I'm now getting tempted to migrate back, and maybe see if it does a bit better.

bedast,
@bedast@squirrelmob.com avatar

@po3mah :latest on docker version of z2m (did a pull yesterday, rechecked today), with SLZB-06 coordinator. Initially was using networked mode on the coordinator, but switched to USB mode to see if that fixed things.

Still getting tons of timeouts, late responses to actions, etc.

I think it’s the coordinator having issues. Can’t figure out to get debug logging from it for now. Looking at maybe getting a UZG-01 to see if that improves things.

bedast,
@bedast@squirrelmob.com avatar

@po3mah Yeah, this basically started with firmware updates, lol. I’ve switched between latest and dev firmwares on the SLZB-06 and getting no changes. Also tried switching Zigbee firmwares.

bedast,
@bedast@squirrelmob.com avatar

@po3mah I ended up relocating the coordinator. There's a bit of metal around where it was mounted so I figured I'd elevate it over all of that and see what happens.

It seems the mesh is reassembling a bit better with this and things are behaving better.

If this ends up being the solution, it's just weird that it suddenly became an issue after several months.

Did you know BMI is a dumb ratio?

I don't mean the concept itself is dumb. I mean it's literally a ratio involving weight and height. That's it. No other context.

I had a gym rat of a boss with 11% body fat with an obesity BMI due to dense muscle.

I guarantee you Kim Kardashian, with her absurdly small waist line, but large butt and chest, has an obesity BMI.

Body composition is a way more accurate measure. BMI doesn't measure body composition, no matter what others will tell you.

@fraying I’ll have to give this a listen! Might be share-worthy in one of my communities.

bedast,

@fraying One problematic statement I heard: “...lifestyle diseases, right, of like diabetes…”

It's interesting to hear the history of BMI, but they should be careful about labeling an entire class of complex diseases as a choice.

Upon finding out 99% of NYU protesters were indeed students, Republican Councilwoman Vickie Paladino decided they all have to die.

It feels like Democrats should stop helping these people in their war on students and higher education?

@gwynnion @Cyrus Wait, this isn’t a parody or something? She actually did call for their murder and to burn down (raze) the schools?

@Cyrus @gwynnion I mean this isn’t just a violation of xitter’s terms, it’s actually crossing the line into illegal. It’s not protected speech.

I know they’ve gone past dog whistling, but it still sucks to actually see it.

Any "what's wrong with Tesla" business story that doesn't mention that the CEO has taken a hard right into racist, fascist, eugenicist, conspiracy nonsense, creating a PR catastrophe that has turned everyone with a brain off the brand, while he tortures his vanity social media site like a child pulling the wings off a fly because he can, is just whitewashing for the sociopath.

It's not China. It's not "the market." It's all Elon.

@fraying He’s not even the founder. He’s barely a co-founder. He sued his way into that position.

He also didn’t found Paypal. This came about through some messy stuff after a merger.

And SpaceX may have been founded after a deal with Russia fell through.

Just an all around toxic person, really. Bullied his way into his fortune and leadership.

If Google is going to be aggressively fighting against ad blocking, they should be held to a far higher, potentially legal, standard for ensuring safe advertisements.

Because one of the really important reasons for using ad blocking is safety from scams and malware. And Google owns THE largest ad network, and it serves malicious ads every day.

Leeloo’s pet store trip was a success! Not only for the trip itself where she got some treats and a toy. But it was her first ride in her new seatbelt harness in the back seat instead of all the way in the cargo space!

She was having a blast!

All the excitement wiped her out. She stayed down the whole trip back home.

Happy Birthday, Leeloo!

You know what’s hilarious about people complaining so much about digital only games purchases? Those same people keep buying them.

If the income is still incoming, the complaints become just noise.

If you truly hate online only digital only games purchases, stop buying them. Publishers don’t measure game popularity in how noisy people complain. They measure popularity in dollars.

This shouldn’t need saying, but I’m going to put it out there:

DO NOT seek medical advice from AI chat bots, chat systems, AI websites, ChatGPT, Gemini, whatever else is out there.

These are Large Language Models, or LLMs. They are designed to make convincing conversation.

They are NOT designed to “know” things. The appearance of knowledge comes from contextual dialog assembly. But they can repeat wrong information as fact based on garbage contained in training data.

Got the first shot (of two) of my shingles vaccination and feel absolutely fine, save for a little soreness at the injection site, for which my CBD salve is working wonders.

Everyone said this one is rough but so far, so fine!

Get your shingles shots y'all. However much it hurts (it doesn't), it's soooo much less painful than shingles.

Edited to add: Apparently the shot is limited to 50 and up, a club I recently joined. So get it when you can, youngsters!

bedast,
@bedast@squirrelmob.com avatar

@fraying Medical guidance in the US, and therefor insurance coverage, doesn't cover shingles vaccine under the age of 55. At least that was the case just a few years ago.

I was 38 when I had a shingles flare up.

It's definitely not fun. I hope the guidance and coverage is adjusting to what appears to be younger folks getting shingles.

An elderly man commented on it today at Home Depot: “Oh, I never thought of it that way.”

Just for fun I decided to do the math to calculate the amount of Ozempic/semiglutide in my system based on the usualy dosing of every 7 days (in red), versus dosing every single day (at 1/7th) the dose (in green).

The two colors represent the upper and lower limit (it will at the upper limit right after a dose and at the lower limit right before a dose).

Notice that dosing every day makes for a much more stable concentration. Note this assumes a 1 mg dose (y-axis) and the x-axis is in days. I will start dosing every day tomorrow.

For those curious I also attached the equation that I calculated (derived) for the half-life. Both in its continuous form and as the summation.

#Ozempic #Semiglutide #WeightLoss

bedast,
@bedast@squirrelmob.com avatar

@freemo This seems to be derived based on a misunderstanding of data and how the drug works when used in the form and not the compounded form.

Ozempic doesn’t just squirt a concentration of GLP-1 RA into you that is just there for your body to use whenever. It uses technology derived from what we’ve learned about long acting “basal” insulin (once daily rather than mealtime) that causes it to essentially crystalize and slowly dissolve and release the drug over the week time. It’s not a perfect system, but it overlaps well enough that available drug is a bit sinusoidal over the weeks of use.

If you think it’s better to take a daily dose, check out / . It’s made by the same company (Novo Nordisk) but is once daily instead of weekly.

It’s not really a good idea to try to modify the dosing from the guidelines. It’s worth noting US poison control has had a pretty sharp increase in the last couple of years of Ozempic poisoning calls from people trying to manage the dose on their own.

I'm upgrading my . I'm kinda excited.

My living room TV area (AppleTV, Nintendo Switch, etc) is connected to a EAP620 meshed with another EAP620 wired to the rest of my network. It's an island, basically. The speed isn't up to the standard I would expect.

I'm replacing them with EAP773 access points. I don't have devices, but this should make a Wifi7 . Which should exceed my needs for some time.

My initial goal for the cost of the hardware for a based home deployment, including the board, case, storage, and power, was to keep it under $100. With taxes, I think I can get a minimum of about $65 plus shipping. You can go with upgraded hardware and still keep it under $100.

Another observation is, man, Raspberry Pi 4 is expensive on Amazon. Don’t buy them there. Go to or .
