My wife has joined a Facebook group, specifically for people all pretending to be ants. What a weird, but utterly harmless, corner of the internet.

Many members of the group all agree “lift !!!“

I've been running my mining rig flat out this week. It's doing really well. Producing quite a bit of heat, but producing sometimes £2 in value per day, reliably.

Oh sorry, not my mining rig, because cryptocurrency is shit, no, what I meant to say was my solar inverter. My solar inverter has made £2 per day. Thanks "the sun".

Cryptobros, maybe consider this when your folly inevitably implodes on itself.

Whilst putting my phone, watch, tablet and powerbank on charge yesterday evening, I glanced outside at my car, still charging, having been slowly pulling 8A for ~14 hours.

Between 150 and 20 years ago, there was some amazing future-looking fiction written, accurately predicting all sorts of stuff; handheld computers, smart watches, the Internet, satellites, electric cars even.

But I never read anything about how much of our lives would revolve around charging batteries in almost every device.

Could somebody please draw up a list of charities who lobbied hard to get the online safety bill into law, so I know who to never give another single fucking penny to, ever?

The tory party is dying. It's like a sort of "death by a thousand cuts", except if I misspelled the last word.

It’s hard to imagine a virus as having a size. But the covid 19 virus has a size of 100 nanometres in diameter.

The very most modern computer chips being fabricated by TSMC have a pitch of 3 nanometres, meaning that each individual transistor ‘component’ in the chip measures 3 nanometres across.

The covid 19 virus is therefore approximately 33 times bigger than our smallest transistors.

A nanometre is one billionth of a metre, by the way.

It is hard to visualise; impossible almost.

Remember copper pair theft?

Remember how we were pleased it would go away with fibre?

We have now seen a fibre tail from a pole to a property get stolen to provision a new FTTP service. Great.

A few, when I’ve gently uttered my concerns about smart meters (that it is problematic that they all contain a remotely operable contactor that the supplier can shut off without a site visit) who’ve said “yeah but they would never do that”. I’ve had a pro smart meter campaign organisation say effectively the same. And an energy supplier.

TIL in Octopus’s Ts & Cs, they explicitly say they reserve the right to remotely cut you off. If there is no intent to ever do it, why put it in the Ts and Cs?

Anyone got any use for this? It’s the Mikrotik 60GHz link thingy. One end is still BNIB. One end has been outdoors, slightly sheltered though, and never used (though powered up for testing). Paid about £300 ages ago. Currently sells new as a kit for around £288. Offers? Need it collected really, or I could drop off in the near area. Don’t really want to post!

For a while, 62% of the ENTIRE electrical power consumption of the UK was being met by wind turbines.

My wife (who I am married to) and I live in the same property.

We share a Netflix account, on account of these above facts.

Today Netflix has, out of the blue, sprung me a message telling me “this TV is not part of your household account”. This then necessitated some kind of emailed re authentication.

It wasn’t much hassle, though it would have been had kemi not been home. Nonetheless, giant fuck you to Netflix. It’s like antipiracy shit on DVDs.

All of these things hit parents. All of the kids of those parents, on some level, will be aware. No surprise, teen mental health is not good.

Oh this could be awkward.

@cybergibbons and I have been asked to give a w3w based talk. But I've had the suggested event title and blurb through and, er, I don't think it has been fully realised that we don't like w3w and think it's bad.

Luckily, I have a call with the organiser, so I have an opportunity to explain our stance.

This will be a fun zoom call.
