I have been called many things, some of them even pleasant! :blobcatgiggle:
I have never figured out how to accept a compliment without just dying inside a little. I really shouldn't - people are just being nice to me and that is good... right? :blobcateyesblush:
Do you ever feel awkward accepting that others find value in something you did/do/think/feel? How do you handle it?
Absorb this graph—but note that the final year is 2018, the year of Trump’s tax cuts. That’s #Trump’s big goal, always has been: to rip off working people and hand huge bags of cash to the ultra-wealthy, like himself and his Mar-a-Lago buddies.
Rutger Bregman:
Stunning graph: the plummeting tax rates of the richest Americans. For the first time in history, billionaires have a lower effective tax rate than working-class Americans.
God: In an unfortunate Afterlife mix-up, Jacob Marley will be headlining The Pearly Gates Reggae Festival, and Bob Marley will be teaching a rich old Curmudgeon the meaning of Christmas.
I told y'all, cops don't do what you think they do.🤷🏿♂️
Black folk know this from lived experience. Some white folk only learn this when they go to report a theft or sexual assault and find out that the $11B/year NYPD are not equipped to handle that.
I can't find the chart you are talking about, but I did find this image picturing the original 1978 police mini fig on the left and a more modern SWAT mini fig on the right:
This is the sort of thing that's usually created by people who have limited food availability. Like starving people who invent new and barely palatable ways to eat bugs.
That band has one of THE MOST offensive songs in this or any other universe. I won't link to it or even name it, but the only instrument is an 80's era Casio synthesizer.
It's endlessly amazing -- or maybe not, since it keeps happening -- that Big Journalism treats Trump like their assignment editor and even copy editor.
The NY Times, for example, headlines its story today about the Trump criminal trial in NY "a case related to hush money paid to a porn star."
No, it's about (among other things) falsifying financial records to keep the public in the dark before the 2016 election.
@Blinxeto@dangillmor Most of the actual journalists are well aware. It's the rest of the operation that's the problem. The executives, the editors, and many of the pundits.
happy to say, Richard Dawkins has me blocked on Xitter because, during his Hijabi concern-trolling days, i not only dared to question his knowledge of Islamic traditions, but called him a bad atheist for not even knowing the basics of Christianity history, doctrine & theology.
Stallman is also kind of an asshole. He did some amazing work in the open source community, but his social skills are decidedly lacking. Nobody should place him on a pedestal.
