  3. Youngest granddaughter was lavished with honors last night at her high school senior assembly in NC (too far for Grandma to go).

Majority of Americans wrongly believe US is in recession – and most blame Biden

💥Nearly three in five Americans wrongly believe the US is in an economic recession, 💥and the majority blame the Biden administration,
according to a Harris poll conducted exclusively for the Guardian.

The survey found 🔹persistent pessimism about the economy as election day draws closer.👀
The poll highlighted many people have about the economy, including:

🔸55% believe the economy is shrinking, and 56% think the US is experiencing a recession, -- though the broadest measure of the economy, gross domestic product (GDP), has been growing.

🔸49% believe the S&P 500 stock market index is down for the year, -- though the index went up about 24% in 2023 and is up more than 12% this year.

🔸49% believe that unemployment is at a 50-year high, -- though the unemployment rate has been under 4%, a near 50-year low.

👉Many Americans put the blame on Biden for the state of the economy, with ⭐️58% of those polled saying the economy is worsening due to mismanagement from the presidential administration.

The poll underscored people’s complicated emotions around inflation.
🔥The vast majority of respondents, 72%, indicated they think inflation is increasing.
🔥In reality, the rate of inflation has fallen sharply from its post-Covid peak of 9.1% and has been fluctuating between 3% and 4% a year.

I’m at the end of my tether. I think social media is negatively affecting all of us by magnifying all that is so horrible in the world, but I don’t remember there being THIS much horror before (and I’m really old).

We’re facing truly existential crises and we’re not doing it as one unified nation but one that is grimly divided. We’ve endangered the planet and every living thing, and the foundation of our country is literally at stake of falling into the chaos & evil of fascism. We’ve already traded true democracy for oligarchy.

We’ve lost touch with the critical essence of truth and objective facts. We’re losing human rights, voting rights, the rule of law, and even common sense day by day.

I’m normally an optimistic person, but I’m damned close to losing all hope for the future.

Trump doesn't know what he wants his contraceptive policy to be. Should states be able to restrict it? This morning he thought yes, just like states can now outlaw abortion. This afternoon he said he wasn't for banning it, and neither is the Republican party. Sure, and I'm not trusting them either.

Vote for Republicans and who knows what you'll get. and you'll get expanded health care, not restricted.

I've seen a LOT of horrible tech ideas in my time. But the Microsoft announcement for a Windows feature (apparently enabled by default) to take and store screenshots every few seconds of everything you do on your PC has to be one of the most high privacy risk concepts I've ever seen. Even stored locally on the PC, it's a recipe for domestic abuse, government abuses, and a long list of other nightmares. Microsoft has jumped the shark BIG TIME.

Yesterday, Costello behaved so atrociously on the witness stand that Juan Merchan cleared the courtroom to admonish him & the defense attorneys. Costello is due back on the stand

We’re all in that same horror movie. I started a post last week listing all the truly awful things occurring concurrently in the world right now then deleted it as it was just too damn depressing.

The worst part is recognizing all the crap but not really being able personally to effect any solution. The one thing we can do that can make a difference is work to get out the blue vote for every elected office/seat.

Voter turnout has not reached 70% in over 100 years. It’s CRITICAL we in 2024.
