The most common excuse is that they're keeping operations going to safeguard access to essential products. Which is utter BS, no matter how you look at it.
A publisher claims to have staff writers to write a book for me, and because I am an unknown author, they will also market the book I did not write for me. All I have to do is loan them my name and suggest a topic.
Someone kept bringing up Mastodon so I decided to join. Y'all can just call me Collard Green Dreams, or CGD for short. Here are some relevant things about me:

I'm Bi and Non-Binary
I'm pretty sure I have ADHD, Autism, or both
I have a ton of interests that vary, such as VNs, books, film, vampires, ATR, history, science, and food.
I'd like the option to import another instance to the #VivaldiBrowser, although the current implementation is apparently just a standard sidebar page.
Hopefully they'll include an actual client in the browser like they've done with mail and calendar. Considering the various software implementations of #ActivityPub that could be challenging.

Yeah, that's what I meant. It's "just" a normal web panel, though, like any other I have. Nothing special there. I used calckey.social there before installing that as a #PWA. That way it runs in a dedicated window.
I'm hoping eventually there will be additional functionality which now depends on extensions, like opening #Fediverse user profiles in the instance I use for easy follow.

As part of a wave of layoffs, I got laid off from my backend development job last month as the company's financials I was working with have been steadily decreasing. I applied for another job shortly after, and after a month of interviews and an honestly great response from their team, at the last minute, they told me that they were focusing their hiring efforts away from the US and towards Singapore. With Calckey donations, I don't have enough money to pay for rent or groceries. So I'm asking to #GetFediHired, I'm the lead developer on the Calckey project, and I'm a fullstack, multi-language developer. I have 3+ years of enterprise experience, and I work great on teams as well as solo. Resume and references available upon request.
I generally don't fear falling victim to scams or downloading malicious files, but I've even taken the precaution of blocking the .zip top-level domain (TLD). It's important to exercise caution and be proactive in protecting oneself. :ablobcatcoffee:

The jury votes are a farce. I know they claim it's for professional criticism reasons, but it looks a lot like it has always been more about politics.
It would be fascinating if the deliberations would be public.

Yeah. #Calckey is great. I ended up here after the #Misskey instance I was on went poof, and I like this more than I did that one. I did main an #Akkoma (https://outerheaven.club/) for a few days between these, though, and that was also good.
