there is something utterly adorkable about H.G Wells' book 'Little Wars' (1913), especially considering the amazing reproductions of photographs featuring the author and his quite notable friends playing a serious game with toy soldiers... while dressed in what then was most likely considered leisure wear.
Oh Gods, am I going all Buzzfeed? I'm not sure myself. But I wanted to share some tabletop roleplaying podcasts I enjoy listening to, and ten makes such a nice round number. And there definitely would be more to list. Also, you might notice there are 11 on the list. Because of course there are. I am not really fond of Actual Plays, as I find the process of listening to them somewhat grating.
Did you know there is an online forum for tabletop role-playing games that has been around since the late 70s, and which still is active and operating? Admittedly in a much diminished state than at it's heyday. I don't know if you ever heard the term Usenet before, and even if you did, if you don't just connect it with data piracy.
what's the SECOND rpg ever published? was it Tunnels and Trolls? Was it Empire of the Petal Throne?
no, it was the 1974 Rules to the game of DUNGEON by Craig VanGrasstek, who created them seemingly without knowing about #dnd, based solely on local games popularized by a player who had brought the idea from games with Dave Arneson's gaming group
here's an interesting thing I found you can do with the #irc webportal The Lounge: you can easily add parameters to the link for it to drop someone nearly directly into a chat.
I bought a Razer headset on a whim while in the electronics store earlier. I don't think I will do that again. To get the fuil features I paid for I had to register and give more private details than I had to give for working in one of the biggest banks of Europe.
Why does an electronics company want those kind of details from me. Why do they want me to give all that to use what I already paid for?
one interesting fact of the setting is the existence of Barrik's Keep in the setting, a keep that was destroyed by goblins ages ago... or was it?
Yes, this was a reference to the Mega Drive/Genesis game Warriors of the Eternal Sun, which started with Barrik's Keep being transported to the Hollow World setting.
This also ties the setting with Mystara, despite not actually fitting ANYWHERE properly.
