What is your first experience with the Internet? How old were you? What did you look at?

@RickiTarr I don't remember what the first website I looked at was, but what I do remember is that I started out with a strictly-text browser called "lynx", and I was happy with my user experience with that, I could occupy myself with endless stuff that I could read and it was great!

Then came the advent of pictures on the net and I hated that. More and more commonly, lynx wouldn't load a site at all and if I used a browser that would, I'd have to wait several minutes for a (1/2)

@RickiTarr stupid picture to load before I could read anything. I didn't put up with that. I didn't use the internet again for several years until the machines were able to load the (still stupid, in my view) pictures in a timely fashion so I could read the text.

Trump can’t help but violate any gag order a judge puts on him. Already a judge in NY has fined him twice for attacking his clerk and will keep ratcheting up the penalties. And he’s lucky Judge Chutkan put her gag order on hold pending appeal in his federal case because he just violated that one by attacking Mark Meadows as a witness.

It’s time to up the penalties. Put him in jail for a night next time, I say. He needs to get used to being there anyway.

@georgetakei If he isn't given a real penalty of some kind very soon, I'm going to conclude it's because his side is too powerful and he has effective immunity, regardless of what the law might say.

And I don't mean being fined what to him is slap on the wrist money.

Some personal : been working on upping my nail polish game, and so I've been experimenting with nail polish stamps the past few months - and I think I am finally getting the hang of it!

I could never pull off nail art freehand of any sort, but a friend had suggested I try nail stamping where you put polish onto a design on a metal plate, then press the stamp to it transfer the pattern, and then apply the stamp to your nail. It took some practice to get it just right, and getting some stamping-specific polish and well-designed plates has made these really pop I think

    @AccordionBruce Sorry Bruce. I guess that wasn't the nicest thing to share. Kind of the ultimate of "sad but true".

    I've known thanks to other writing that things were this general shape for a solid 10 years now and made my peace with it. I'm also the kind of person who prefers the real truth over sugar coating, no matter what it's about. (I know everyone says that, but...)

    @AccordionBruce I start to think about the world my niece and nephew (much younger than your twins) are likely to inherit and I have to stop thinking about that in short order because I just can't.

    I guess I have to stand corrected about how music will be performed in the future. No, I don't forsee much (any) sheet metal or steel wire being made much out from 20 years from now, but that's just my own guess.

    Certainly the ability to repair any non-electric thing at all will be a big deal!

    Salvage will for sure be an important part of how things are done in that time. You clearly have a better idea that I do about whether accordions can be built/maintained then!
