My name is Marvin and I live in Bielefeld (Germany) currently working as a #sysadmin at a small ISP. I also self-publish books from time to time.

Most of my free-time, however, is spent doing #photography — mostly of #birds and, sometimes, other types of wildlife.

I will mostly be posting photos of birds or other bird-related content on this account, but I will also — at times — post stuff about languages and computers. I post mainly in English and German.

There's Long-Tailed Tits, but did you know there's also a Long-Tailed Crow?

I have always found that Long-Tailed Crow would be a fun name for the Eurasian Magpie!

Such beautiful birds, I love the iridescent feathers!

The train was late so I decided to just cycle all the way home. I ended up being home roughly twenty minutes earlier than I would've been if I had waited for the delayed train 😅

I know this is a terrible photo, but maybe someone can help me identify this bird? Seen today at around noon in Halle (Westf.), Germany circling around a neighbourhood and then flying off.

I looked out of the kitchen window and saw something large and strange on a neighbour's roof. I took my camera, looked more closely and, wouldn't you know it, it's the Black Stork!

I immediately went to the house to take some photos of it on the roof. It really doesn't care about people at all.

The owners hadn't noticed it either. They only came out because they saw us taking photos.

@johnshirley2024 It does indeed. This is in Bielefeld, Germany. This stork has become quite famous amongst birders here after my having discovered it at a rain water retention basin near my apartment. Black storks are pretty rare around here.

A very beautiful butterfly I saw a few days ago. Looks to be a butterfly of the Pieridae family, maybe a Small White?

Looks like it's drinking some nectar from this flower!

Had the pleasure of seeing my favourite tit again today, the Crested Tit (Haubenmeise)!

I was at the train station near my office and heard a strange call, I look around and saw this guy hopping around the trees. Luckily I always have my camera with me :-)
